Fyddler, I got it from Monroe Engineering.

http://catalog.monroeengineering.com/vi ... ving-hinge?

I bought the 50 foot roll. It was $50 plus shipping (around $5 or $6). I felt like that was a bargain vs. the hurricane hinge since this was used for both the hatch and the door. Very Very heavy duty stuff. It is listed as holding 100 pounds per inch. I would believe it. It was a bear to cut. I wound up using my sawzall to just lop off a length of it. After it was mounted and in place, I heated a metal scraper knife with a torch and melted through it to get clean edges. Even with melting the hinge to cut it, it took several cycles of heating and cutting to get through it. I can't say enough how good this product is.

No, I didn't bother to claim them on my insurance. In total I was out about $1,100. That didn't meet my deductible.

Is that all? yikes When I add up in my head the contents of my garage I get to close on £5000 just in tools. Note to self when TD is done get tool out document and and photograph them to keep in a file in case of insurance claim.

There was more than that in the garage...that's just what they took. It was really more a crime of opportunity than anything. They ignored all the Porter Cable tools in their cases along the other wall of the garage, didn't bother with the compressor, and didn't even try for the radial arm saw. So yeah, it could have been much, much worse than it was. $1,500 was a cheap lesson to learn to take security more seriously.
