Convertable Teardrop

Not much of a build journal, I'm already about 90% done. Of course the first 90% of a project takes 90% of the time and the last 10% takes the other 90% of the time.

I built the Convertable Teardrop from the plans I'm sure most have seen on eBay. The build was really simple. Used 4 sheets of plywood and some 1 X 3 boards. The whole build up to this point was 3 weekends and a few nights after work. I wanted a simple camper I could use this year. Took it out last weekend for the test camp since it had reached the "bug proof" stage. Very happy with it. We were worried a 4 foot wide camper would be too narrow, but we both slept comfortably. My wife loves the ability to remove the roof so it feels very open and cool inside. Still think I'm going to need to hook up A/C for those muggy Indiana nights though.

Thanks to everyone, I learned so much from the information on the site. It saved tons of time and answered every question I had before I even started building.

I would love a convertible tear for those starry nights.

I LIKE IT!!!!! It looks very nice. You did a super job in such a short amount of time. You must have some skills. :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

Three weekends, wow. That's great and you're underway. I'll bet you didn't break the bank either and it looks like a very fun and functional teardrop. I hope you have a great time camping in it.
Life is sooooo good.........

A few more pictures.

Next projects:
1) Flip the axle. The edge of the doors digs in a bit getting in and out. Lowering the camper a few inches should solve that.
2) Tongue box. A little more storage, and a spot to set the A/C.
3) Maybe some better looking fenders and tail lights.
4) Some trim pieces on the exposed ends of plywood would look nice.
