Did you have them de-rate the spring rubbers? Having the big brakes and robust suspension is a good call, but having stiff springs/rubbers on a much light camper would be harsh.

What do you think you final loaded weight will be?

I actually didn't change out the rubber in the suspension and never really thought about it. Right now I am not to sure what the final weight will be of the trailer but I am gussing anywhere from 1000 to 1300 pounds. I have had the trailer on the road but not off road yet. On the road it handles pretty good but I think my tongue weight is to heavy right now because the tongue is to long.

By my way of understanding a longer tongue is more likely to reduce tongue weight (unless it is overly stout in and of itself, or it is loaded down with attachments/gear at the front). The longer the lever the less effort it takes to balance the load.

Judging by where you are at in your build, I would think that shortening the tongue will increase your tongue weight.

Looking sharp!

I'd get the trailer fully outfitted, including the galley and water tank and then see where the tongue weight is.
Look forward to seeing more. The basement style build sure has a lot of storage space.

I think that is what I am going to do. My concern mainly is beacuse I am going to be off roading a lot with this trailer and from the research I've done so far the tongue weight should be pretty light compared to normal road use. Yea I love the basement in this it has given us a lot of storage for the year or so we'll spend on the road.

Here is a picture of what I have loaded on the tongue so far.

The tongue box holds my electronics for the trailer and the soon to be placed deep cycle battery, The bed box holds a Honda 2000 generator and a few odds and ends. All together I'm guessing around 250 pounds once the battery is in.

Your build looks great! Hope you plan on documenting your travels.

Did you retire from NAS Fallon? I grew up there. Fallon that is :R .

Yes I retired from NSAWC here in Fallon. Still in the area living with the daughter while I finish up the teardrop before hitting the road. Speaking of the teardrop, I've been working on the cabinets in the back and will be posting pictures of that soon as well as the cabinets and electronics on the inside.

Making steady progress on the galley which is the last part of my build. Installed the first set of drawers and have the cabinets roughed out now. Once they are done then all that remains is getting the water system up and running. So here are some pictures of my progress.

But forst a picture of the new tow vehicle! Woot!

On with the show. Cabinets almost done I just need to finish the doors for them. The left vacant space is getting two drawers and a camp stove pull out.

116174

The vacant hole on the right will be getting a 50 quart ARB fridge installed on a pullout.

116175

and a picture of the rear of the trailer. More to follow.
