Hi tsmyth,
Your design reminds me of the 13ft 1961 Hi-L0 telescoping camper my
family had in the mid-1960s. It was a nice simple basic TTT. It looked like this one
http://littlevintagetrailer.com/2014/04 ... e-contest/except that it had no kitchen, but a full width seat where the one in the link
has the kitchen/galley. It cranked up-and-down manually with a pulley
system and cables. I know - I was the one in charge of that as a young
teen back then. In later years, they went to a hydraulic system running the
crank and cables. Today, maybe an electric winch system could do it, though
the hand crank is the simplest for a small light-weight TTT.
Hi-Lo went out of business a few years ago. Here is a forum devoted to
them and their various models over the years.

http://www.jrrepair.embarqspace.com/# ,who are described as very helpful on the Hi-Lo forum. They are located
in the same city where the Hi-Lo telescoping TTs were built.
'Just thought I'd pass this info along as it may be helpful to you in your build.
Cheers,
