Looking good, can you go into more details with the lift system and how you plan on activating it? Working on a design for a foamie truck camper and am leaning towards a simple shoe box style pop top and your look alike like what I had in mind. Have you worked out a floor plan or just "building as you go"?

Lifting system is pulleys at 4 corners which connect to one wire with goes to hand winch( as shown in picture) mounted on tongue of trailer (all in and under floor).
Google "COLEMAN LIFT SYSTEM" FOR MORE INFO ,also used on many older pop-up campers. 10 cranks (revolutions) down to up
Camper structure was drawn to scale, then model was made to scale, many SKETCHES were made, materials lists plus prices were written down plus READ READ this site- tntt.

Thanks for the info, I was looking at a crank up system, gas strut assisted or electrical jack system, just need to finalize a design and get on with it.

Hi tsmyth,

Your design reminds me of the 13ft 1961 Hi-L0 telescoping camper my
family had in the mid-1960s. It was a nice simple basic TTT. It looked like this one

http://littlevintagetrailer.com/2014/04 ... e-contest/

except that it had no kitchen, but a full width seat where the one in the link
has the kitchen/galley. It cranked up-and-down manually with a pulley
system and cables. I know - I was the one in charge of that as a young
teen back then. In later years, they went to a hydraulic system running the
crank and cables. Today, maybe an electric winch system could do it, though
the hand crank is the simplest for a small light-weight TTT.

Hi-Lo went out of business a few years ago. Here is a forum devoted to
them and their various models over the years.

http://www.hilotrailerforum.com/

Per the forum, parts, including lift system items, can be obtained from:

http://www.jrrepair.embarqspace.com/#

,who are described as very helpful on the Hi-Lo forum. They are located
in the same city where the Hi-Lo telescoping TTs were built.

'Just thought I'd pass this info along as it may be helpful to you in your build.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

TSMYTH,
Are you making progress on your build? I like the HI-Lo concept. Something like that, or possibly an A-frame type would be easy to pull behind my Grand Caravan. I would add a bit more to satisfy DW, especially a porta-potty as minimum, and a shower.

Please post some pictures of your build.

Have a great weekend.

Great Job. I'm interested in doing something similar with an old pop up. I'd love to see details on how you did the door and the seal between the upper and lower halves.

On the first outing I will be using the K.I.S.S. method for sealing upper and lower sections together. 6 ft sections of foam 3/4" pipe insulation which will be installed manually. These come in different sizes and are inexpensive(cheap)and are cut down the side. The door will be a pool noodle cut in half and attached to a canvas hinge which will be flipped into position on the top of the interior door, once the top section is extended.
