Next up....we decided to cut out the hatch spars...so we bought a 3/4" sheet of plywood from home depot and went to town. I cut off 1.5" spar from the back of the pattern to make sure we were keeping the shape! There was also 3/8" relieved from the sides...as Dave McCann's teardrop build does...(I'm following that one as best we can).

At first I traced all the spars, then decided to cut the first one and use that as the template and trace each time we cut...this way they are all the same (or very close).

We used a jigsaw (which was on its' last leg...so I had to buy a new one) to cut these out....then we sanded them with a belt sander after clamping them all together.

Ha! Thanks. We're doing our best....it's starting to cost a lot more than I had originally anticipated! =) Slowly but surely we will get there. Thanks.

Sorry for the long delay posting! We have been busy working on the TD - just haven't been posting anything because I'm on the computer at work all day, last thing I want to do is be on the computer at night! We're moving along (slowly) but steady.

Make sure to get as much of your wood as possible before you start building! We tried to haul as much as we could with the trailer as we don't have a truck - we have two SUV's....here we are getting the baltic birch plywood that we used for the inside skins. 1/8" 4x8' sheets....we used for inside skins and headliner.

We cut out the walls to lighten up the load and also allow space to run wiring for the lights. We then cut out insulation for later installing.

Here is the beginning of the inside skin job....I used Steve Frederick's routing technique and it worked like a charm!
