Unnamed 12' Travel Trailer

Hello all!

I'm happy to finally be able to share with you images and my build progress so far.

This trailer began it's life in 1989 as a Jayco pop up. When I bought it, it had been essentially dismantled with only the bottom structure remaining, I believe the previous owner was using it as a cargo hauler of sorts. After tearing off all the remaining bits I was left with this awesome bed to build on

The frame dimensions of it are 12' by 7' and it comes in at a whopping 640 pounds. This was a bit larger than I had originally planned to build on, but I'm now extremely happy with the options its given me.

If you notice the steel tubing on my trailer, that's the material I decided on to build my frame. I chose 1x1 steel tubing due to it's light weight properties and structural abilities. By no means am I an expert welder, but the enticement of getting to weld my entire structure was... pretty intense, and this was probably my favorite part of the build so far.

3 solid days of cutting and welding yielded my camper's frame

I then spent the next few days completely buffing, sanding, and painting my entire trailer in rustoleum. Which was pretty nice as a trailer base as old as mine had accumulated quite a fair amount of rust

I'm further along in the build, but would really love to hear everyone's opinion/comments/expertise on how this stage of my build went

Cheers!

Fabrication looks fine from what I can see at a distance.

So it looks like it will be a rear entry, do you have floor plan figured out?

I wonder what it weighs now. Your little marshmallow tires will have a load limit that you will have to stay under, unless you upgrade and allow room for larger tires and wheels.

Rear entry is correct sir :) I've got the floor plan figured out somewhere... just cant find the doodling that I had done so I can share. Entry and head will be located at the rear with a kitchen(ette) along the side over the wheel well. Since it's 7' wide and I'm only 5'7" plenty of room to stretch out at the front. The weight at this point I have figured to be around 850 lbs. I can only safely guesstimate that because....

After spending an incredible amount of time sheeting the entire exterior and installing trim. I completed my first road test yesterday! :D Straight to the weigh station lol
Came in nice and happy at 1000 pounds
