The design adjusted and the new ones are already cut. :applause:
Mistakes are made, but some costs more than others.

Too bad, but you will no doubt find other good uses for the material from the old walls, so the monetary cost isn't quite as bad as the cost of material for the two new walls.

We've been there. Keep plugging!

Thanks Tom, you're right. The new walls are already under construction.

Doing my foamy I used a sharpie marker to sketch the curve and the

trailer for a couple of days to study. Then I cut things...

I should have taken better pictures of that point.
I still changed the final result to something else....

This was the problem, the first time it was like the yelow line and the distance to the countertop was 9inch. Thats way to much.

Wow, that looks good! Progress indeed.

What kind of glue did you use to glue the polystyrene to the aluminium?

I am asking because I am also considering to glue the Dibond directly to the skeleton and polystyrene. Looking at other builds it looks to be common practice to add an extra layer of thin plywood, so the wall is made up out of 4 layers: aluminium, thin plywood, insulation (incl. skeleton), thin plywood. I simply do not see the benefit of this method. Imho it just adds weight. What are your considerations to this aspect of the build?

Hi,

The glue/kit i initially wanted to use was not strong enough. I came in contact with kitcentrum.nl and i finally ended up by Zwaluw Hybrifix 302 kit. Its an solvent free glue, so if you want you can you can use it also for the Styrofoam.
I personally wil not glue the foam. It just clamps between the dibond and the inner wall/plywood sheet.

I'll go with your theory that the extra layer plywood is not necessary, but we will use dibond and that is more stif than a single layer of aluminum. Think that is the reason.

The Dutch build

Postby TallGuy7 » Tue May 17, 2022 10:10 am

Thanks for the tip! I used Zwaluw PU construction fix to glue the polystyrene to the inside wall (ply).

To glue the dibond to the wall I am considering Dekapur 2k polyurethane glue. This glue is used in repairs of caravan walls and it glues the wood and polystyrene and requires little clamping and looks perfect for the job.

Downside is that is is very, very expensive.

I will look into the 302…

I can tell you this, the 302 is brutal. I almost teared off the topcoat of the dibond.

Looks great!

The second wall should be easier in my experience. Nice shape by the way.

Install Tapatalk on your phone and post from within Tapatalk. Posting pictures on this forum is difficult due to size/resolution limitations.
