Is there any intrest in custom made emblems?

Postby vtx1029 » Fri Jun 18, 2010 5:28 am

Just wondering if there would be any interest in custom made emblems or build plaque made out of aluminum?

If there is enough interest I could see it possible to make some cool stuff.

This is just one idea I had in my head. sorry its not perfect I whipped it out in a few minutes just to give you all an idea.

Your finish choices could be pretty endless raw for the do it yourselfer, polished, chrome, I also do powdercoating and have a bunch of cool powders...

Working on things with my machinist on cost. Ultimately what will drive the cost the most is what type of finish. And what kind of demand there is for them.

Any ideas you guys have on shapes, designs, or what you would want them to say shoot some ideas.

I do like this one a lot.

Machined out of either billet/thick enough plate to make it look chunky.... gets my vote.

I guess if they are custom made individually it will still be expensive as it is time and not mass produced.

Would be 1/4 inch thick that thick enough for ya?

What if you could do a run of say 50 Benroy profiles and then 50 Kenskill, etc......then have the info painted and clearcoated?? Having a 'pinstriper' do the lettering or text?

Would that be a cost saver?

'Course you could always do the one offs, too.

You might consider having a set made. One for the TD and one keepsake; for when you get down the road and are building number 12.... :D

I can do the lettering in powder coat.

Yes If I can make a batch all the same the cost will be lower. Shoot me links to the profiles and what lettering you think people would want. I'm open to ideas.

I was thinking of a smooth surface vs raised lettering.

For profiles; there is the sticky close to the top of the forum list, or the hall of fame. Either would give you the profile ideas. I don't have the skills to send a file of them. Sorry.

Powder coat or pinstripe paint....sounds good both ways.

This one gets my vote as well. I would buy one. When do you plan to make these? And what would be the cost? Let me know as I want one for my new build.
