Good news today.

I have been indoors and sick with a chest infection since Saturday, got antibiotics today as it is not getting better.

Anyway, the adaptors did arrive today, and despite knowing I should leave them alone, I could not resist wearing 4 layers, scarf and a beanie, gloves and then having a quick fumble and mock up of the adaptors with wheels attached.

These are beautifully made and finnished. Fit is perfect too, a testament to the engineer who made them up, based on my very sketchy descriptions and measurements.

They should push the wheels out by another 30mm, which means the 11 inch wide mudguards should be decently filled.

Opinions invited on the mock up.

Mobile phone just for perspective.

Fitted to the hub.

Wheel fitted, definitely pushed out a bit.

Mudguard perched on top of some wood on the wheel.

From a distance it all looks good.
Lets hope it looks as good once everything is done.

es009d7705 here from Airdrie in Scotland reading your post and noticed you had managed to obtain some 10 x 5 ply and was wondering where you got it as I am having problems finding some up here? Love the build so far, Ev

Hi es, strange name, unless you are a robot :)

Just been watching "A history of Scotland" on BBC2.

Was up as far as Inverness in August. Love it every time I go there.

Just so you know, there is a link at the top of the page to www.tearjerkers.net at the top of the page, in there, halfways down the page you will find a thriving chapter called England as well. 2Fry on here is from there too IIRC. There is a sticky on there on where to get supplies too.

Back to the case at hand.

Call DHH Timber in Purfleet, Essex, the guys are old school, and helpfull.
They should be able to point you in the right direction.

DHH is on : 01708864245

Good luck.

Hi Ev ,
I don't know if you have any one near you, but Avonply is one of our our local suppliers.
They stock lots of 10x5 's in a variety of thickness's and finishes.

Thanks Grizz, I will check out that site and the one Jackdaw mentioned. My name is Evan by the way also known as Evtherev. Anyway I am loving your build so far and your profile is similar to the one I am building. I to am a great fan of low tech supermarkets ie. skips. Up here we call it midgie raking and any finds are called luckies. I love your crutches idea and you have got me thinking as I just live over the fence from a hospital. I was actually thinking of using my wifes extending clothes poles, I guess we dont look at the world the way other people do.Once again thanks for the info, Evan

Hi Evan, It just gives me a huge kick, being able to spend money elsewhere when I have saved a wad, or any other way you want to see that money.

Back to the present.

Been in bed sick the last week.... bleugh !!

And of course, snow last night, so another weekend with zero progress.

Wow snow in england! How often do ya git snow there? K-e-n-t; wheres that in GB?

In Vancouver we have at most a month long cold snap; we had a skiff of snow last weekend; Dec 12 09. but it got warm again; it was plus 10C.

Hope your over your cold now. Cheers Dave

Well, Dave.... we had more snow into the new year, and I in fact got snowed in, within an hour of getting to Nicola's place.

No progress at all, and I also have had a chest infection the last 4 weeks thats just not letting up.

Most of the snow rained away and melted today, at least around Kent.

More cold forecast for next weekend, with a nice mild 7'C for the weekend.

Grizz,

Hope the antibiotics work and you get better soon. The wheel adapters look really nice and the wheels look great under the fenders

Hi Steve, The antibiotics did not seem to work, and I cannot be arsed to go back to the GP's as they let you see a triage nurse who assesses you first, and decides if you should see the doctor.

I still have a cough , today is the 17th, was my birthday, and the 1st decent day since mid December.

Hope to get back to the project sooner than later.
