I got my strip of leds in the mail yesterday!112567 16 ft long about 1/8" thick and about 5/16" wide. So I cut a groove along the edge of the glass for the lights to sit into, then I routed a V-groove a few inches away from the edge.112568
I wrapped the leds around it and just taped it on, they come with adhesive backing but I cant use it for this application. Cut the strip to size and wired it up to my 12v power supply for a test. And the result...
112569
I think this will be hard to keep clean but its too cool.

Well I haven't been building lately, mainly cause of funds. I need to make a trip to HD and get some more wood. But I have been thinking of a theme, I would really like the aircraft mechanic to show on the final project so I think I will skin it in Al as well as have many rivets showing. I'm just throwing a name out there, tell me if you like it... The Phoenix. Not sure if anyone else has used it. As in the movie, people are building a plane from scraps, not sure if it will fly. I feel similar when I think of taking the trailer down I-20 here, so rough. I hope it survives. Let me know what ya think.

Here's a long list of airplane designations and some of their nicknames.

I particularly like the nickname for the Avro Shackleton, "10 Thousand Rivets Flying In Loose Formation", but it doesn't exactly fly of the tongue.

I did get to build my tongue box. Just need to install the latches and weather stripping, though Im not too worried about making it water tight since a hose and power cord will get thrown in there.

Love the LED idea, and very interested in how it works.

Thanks, the light is on the edge pointing inward so any scratches or grooves or other edges reflect light. Its a really simple setup, but the effects are awsome. You're only limited by your imagimation.

Ya I’m liking the name ( off the list above ) Convair B36: “Aluminium overcast”

Love Convair stuff. the B58 Hustler,
The Pulaski Hustler http://www.hsgalleries.com/gallery04/b58jc_1.htm

You need a Sac style patch and ribbon banner on the camper.

I see you changed the cabinets color again. :)

EDIT Changed the “ I need” to “ You Need “

Yeah Terry, I may have to paint them yet again. I can seem to find what I'm looking for as far as colors go. I'm not sure if I want to add some red with the name pheonix.
I am stuck right now with no wood so it may be a couple weeks till I get more.

and some temp bracing

Next month I go back to day shift so I should have more than just the weekends to work on it.

Looking good, Randy.

May I ask what is the plan with the interrupted filler pieces at the top? You obviously have a well thought out build sequence in mind with the stud sections and temp. bracing; maybe the next step is to fill in the spaces?

I plan on putting the plywood top over it. I have pondered on this sequence for a good while, I know there is a better way but I got tired of just thinking and decided to go for it. Now that I made a step I can get a better view of whats to come. At least thats what I'm telling myself.

We went to the LCG gathering yesterday and met some really nice people from this forum, Aggie sorry you didn't make it. But everyone took us on a tour of their tear and gave me alot of ideas and motivation to get it done. They were all very proud of their builds, as I would be if mine ends up that nice. We are still in shock of how kind and inviting everyone was. Thank yall!

I'm trying to put the curved inside skin in but having some trouble. Maybe it's time for plan B.
