Chris,

Looks like you had a great camping trip. There is something about the profile of your "half tear" that is really exciting. I think it is the low stance, exposed low profile tires and lower rear upsweep on the profile that makes it look like a racer.

Thanks, Tom. Nice of you to say so.

As for the "racer" look, that's an effect I was shooting for... and I "borrowed" here and there from other teardrop profiles to achieve it.

:D

Surprisingly, even though it's a bit lower, the whole rig just clears the three commonly-used, "problem" driveway entrances in my area. I though it might rub someplace...

I need to get going now on the top half of the tear... and lose the ropes, tarp and tennis ballz. It's going to get two side doors and a hatch!

I need to get going now on the top half of the tear...

But before I can afford the new material (more exterior-grade ply, etc) I need to get back to work (seasonal, but-still-unpredictable, layoffs). :-(

In the meantime I cleaned up the tongue wheel mounting bracketry. It was suggested by someone whom I respect here on this forum that I weld a portion of the tongue wheel mounting bracketry to the trailer tongue for an even cleaner appearance... I will, all in due time.

Meanwhile, a little chopping, cutting, grinding and painting (is it even worth it? What-EVER!) goes a long way in masking the unsightly hardware belonging to a "universal fit" tongue wheel setup marketed for boat trailers:

Thank you, Miriam! Image

I suspect I'll need a bug net if I venture farther away than an hour from where I live... it's been dry here; there's very little favorable breeding ground for the little critters.

As I said, a full 48-inch high teardrop-shaped cabin will be coming in the near future. Meanwhile, I just started a job with long hours, so there's gonna be an intermission to this trailer story for a couple of months maybe.

I'll post the progress as it happens.

Congratulations on your first trip, Chris. It looks like it was very successful. And, what fun!

Don't worry. You're still young. If I have anything to say about it, I expect to be camping into my 70's.

Hi Chris, and all.

Bringing this from the grave (Build Journals pg 15?)... Enjoyed reading the thread. Curious whatever happened with your trailer? Did you ever turn it into a TD?
