got a couple of hours on it today.
sorry, im not too photogenic. been a long day & been told i need a hair cut!
Image

the lower part of the non-door side is cut & ready to weld to the top part.
Image

if ive got it right, all the marking out scribe lines will be on the inside & the door will
be on the opposite side of the plans cos we drive on the wrong side over here.

This man doesn't waste any time.

Would you keep track of the hours it takes you to actually build your trailer? I would really like to know

John

another 2 hours on it today.

did a test weld on a piece of off-cut.
Image

then welded the top piece of the non door side on & cut the rest of the oval window.
for welding i clamped some angle about an inch either side of the joint to keep distortion to a minium.
Image

i would recommend an oversized sheet or make a rivited lap joint lower down in the panel if
TIG welding isnt a strong point. this type of joint is the most difficult to do.
its all going to be ground back on the outside. hopefully you wont be able to see its joined.
hope to get on it for a couple more hours tomorrow.

Looks like a robot welded it  .
When I slow down and don't get so excited I do better but not that pretty.
This is where lots of experience counts, great job.:) Danny

Hi Angib, glad you managed to stop by.
sometimes its a shame to flush some welds off & other times its a relief.

spent another 2 hours on it this afternoon.
got the non-door side to the point i want. still needs metal finishing.
wont do that till its got the correct radius profile.
used it as a template for the door side & started to mark that out.

my thinning hair shows up well !

No, that's not just arc eye (which isn't too bad) - that's loomium arc eye which worse than having the fires of Hell in each eye.

3 hours on it today!
welded the door panel & made both rear quarter panels.
hate to tempt fate but im still on the same jigsaw blade as when i started.
Image

its nice when you get next to no distortion from welding.
wish they all went like that !
Image
its best to avoid stress relieveing an aluminium weld by hammering cos it makes it brittle & prone to failure.

thats all the ali used up.
have to get some more in !

will keep you posted.
