Billy,
Wiring seems a little heavy. I used 16 gauge for the lights and the battery wiring is 12 gauge.

Depending on what you want, Tractor Supply has a kit to wire everything except the battery line for $25. includes tail and marker lamps and the wiring. Etrailer has several kits from $20 up http://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Trailer_Lights-sf-Light_Kit.aspx

If you use car jacks you should probably get ones that go as high as possible. I don't know what those cost but Etrailer has the swing down type for $16 each and they will bolt on. The frame is set up for 4 but I would probably only use 2 in the back. I do that on my standy and it's fine.

Okay, step 1.5; tomorrow....

My sister and I will be headed north to pick up Carter's home built trailer.

By the time we get it here, it's supposed to be storming :x
delay #3  in a string of what will, I'm sure; be many and frustrating. But, at least I am getting started......

Thanks for the help both here and through pm's...I'll be needing more along the way. And, Yes, there will be pics.. :R :D

Mission accomplished!!

Trailer is now a Hoosier state resident.

Will be slow to build. Driving a big truck, hauling large tonka toys, is a time consuming way to earn a living...

Will get a pic or two up tomorrow and as I go, I'll post more...

I read all 44 of your posts to get a better idea where you are in the state. There were no hints ! You indicated you were gonna make our spring gathering. Are you still gonna make it ? Are you gonna try a temporary cabin? I have a garage and 2 out buildings full of extra parts P.M. me if you need anything or want to talk out a design question.

Okay, I'm looking for some input on building our 5x8 'woody'....

Since this will be 5 wide; outside of wall to outside of wall.. how would you skin the roof?

Wood with automotive clearcoat? Epoxy? Wood and paint? Aluminum? ...or....??

I'd like to have no seams from the top of the front wall to the galley hinge, other than the vent in the top.

I've found some - 1/4 x 4 x 5 Birch or 1/4 x 4 x 8 Red Oak - to do the floor with but have not (yet) found 5x9 or 5x10 stuff to do the walls and roof.

Thoughts, ideas, and pointers all considered....

This is the link to the trailer pics, in case it helps....

Billy,
They do make aluminum in 5x12 sheets. Kind of hard to find in thin enough for a trailer but you can look around. Alro steel stocks it but only in .060" I've seen it on the web in .030.

Well, I guess the build is "officially" in progress...my Nikon is arguing with the computer....I got the frame painted with DupliColor truck bed liner and bolted the rear stabilizers in place....

Hoping my 'home-grown-computer whiz' can get this camera/computer thing worked out...sawdust is still a ways off, I did get a simple profile done on 1/4"x4'x8' luan.. 12" front radius and 18" rear radius ....for now.

Hope all were able to enjoy the Independence Day weekend.

Just adding a shortcut for a thread ; so I can find it later.

http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=39135

As you can read in the thread; the dimensions have changed.

Oh, and it wasn't the camera...had to get a new computer; then a keyboard; then...etc.etc.. and it'll all be ready to use when I get home next..frame pics, hopefully lighted for registering; when I get in.

It's nice to have a 'guru' easy at hand...when you can get a teenager to sit still long enough to work their magic ..

I kept saying I had pics but, now 'the guru' has put the tech stuff together; and ....well; don't mind the rusty truck...it's being repaired slowly, too!
Hope the photobucket resizing worked.

As you may have noticed...some thoughts and ideas have changed due to help from so many here that I can't list them; and be sure of not leaving someone out! So, I'll say Thanks; to Bob and Vicki Henry for their help today!!
I splined (used 1/8"router bit and birch) the floor together and put the tiles on last weekend

12x12 linoleum tiles.

I have been assured it will debut at the Crossroads of America Gathering in July.

By the way we are up to 127 tiny trailers for this gathering and there is still room left the rest of you. You had better get reserved and join Billy and I .

Gonna go look at some different stains for the roof in the a.m. The one I had picked is WAY too black...
Will be an all wood surface; 'cept for a hinge here or there, vent and doors:

When all is stained, it will get a coat or three of Cabot Spar varnish (clear), well that was today - see what I can get done Sunday...
