One of the main things to remember with the little 5,000 btu units is that they need quite a bit of air circulating through the condenser at the rear. Anything less than 40 square inches for the inlet for air coming in, or 40 square inches of outlet area and you have a potential icing situation. That sounds like a lot but it really isn't. A 4X10 unobstructed inlet or outlet is all that it takes.
You want to separate the two, though, and be sure to leave a little plenum area in both cases.

In my original post on here I must have been sleeping while I posted, because I said that a 5 inch tube for the exhaust side would be sufficient and it definitely will NOT. :oops: The minimum if you use 5 inch tubes would be TWO tubes for either intake or exhaust, which is what I did on my exhaust, due to space considerations. Sorry about the mis-information, I will try harder in the future. :oops:
