But in the meantime you're camping and enjoying and can be anywhere the guy in the diesel behemoth can go, and a lot of places he can't. That's a sweet success story in my book.

Thanks, yes I am very happy. All the fancy campers on here are really cool and the workmanship is amazing. But as I looked around and figured out what I needed it became apparent that I was going to go down a different path. I have a big camper for the wife and I, this is just for my quick overnighters or weekends. I think this approach would fit the bill for a lot of folks. Cheap, quick and on the road.

That is fantastic. Your simple design has a lot of versatility. This is something you will have a lot of fun in even while the interior set up is evolving. Though I do really appreciate the refined, detailed, work of art builds, I readily admit I am in love with the idea of building it fast & simple yet solid so you can get out there & start using it. A four day build? Well done!!

Thanks, I looked long and hard at many many options/builds but kept coming back to the fact that I did not want or need a lot of that. The build was quick, the last night especially long, but hey, it's a box and I had plans to get up north. I had a lot of concern about racking and I had issues. I think I should have put more time into making the trailer square and flat. My final rear hatch did a great job in squaring up the rear and making it solid. The taper in the front took care of that end. Thanks again.

Here is the shelves I added.
Image

The upper shelf is mounted in rails to slide

All the way in and I can sit on my bunk as a table for eating or working at my computer.

Or it can stick out a little

I cut a hand hole in it to get a better grip.

Pedastal for my bed instead of the cot. Hinged on the wall side for access.

Added a shelf above my head for glasses and phone.

OK, so the electric is mostly done. Ugly but effective, I will clean things up and cover my panel. Battery, 30' of 12-2 wire, distribution panel, 2 lights, outlet(soon to be two). Total $85

Battery in my tongue box(need holddown)

Wires hooked up to battery

Out the lower side of my box and along the frame

Along the frame and up through the bottom of the cabin

Up the wall to my distribution panel
Image

Hook your wires to positive and negative terminals. My panel - from local RV, stripped out of an RV with bad inverter, 11 circuits, fused with indicator lights
Image

I put a light in the front and the back. Positive from each circuit terminal and common negative block.

Nice little camper.

Not for everybody, but for a one or two night stay, perfect. That would work well for hauling RC planes out of state for the few 2 and 3 day show they have around the country.

Thanks, short trips is what it is built for. My hobby is action/sports and wildlife photography and this is going to work out great.
