I have painted my tear to match my cj5, It has 3 coats on rustolem , what I did was first coat with a 9" x1/2" nap, 2econd with next size smaller in , then sanded to just take off fuzz with 100 grit, then the 3rd with 1/4" foam roller, ill let that dry for a month, then wet sand an spray a top coat an trim..Ill post pics tomorrow when It sees the sun for first time. 8)

Beautiful build. I truly like it!
Good idea in the hatch latch! How do you operate it from outside?
It may be a good idea to put a metal top on that striker block. Road vibration will cause that latch to eat into the striker block. And make sure those chain hooks are securely closed, you do not want them to come off once everything is closed up.
Experience is learning from your own mistakes

Ill post a pic of it, its a Shed T-Handle Lock Set Chrome 4-1/2". cost about $12.00.
About eating into the block, that's oak end grain, so should hold out ok..
I have a side door. my trailer is built for hauling stuff..
