Hi Wayne,
That is looking awesome  we will have to call in and have a closer look. I see you have gone with the little guy doors, and the price worked out good for you, the exchange rate must have been a lot better than when we got ours. :applause: Question on the doors though, have they changed them since we got ours? I see that you have square corners at the bottom. I assume the gap under the galley is to get the bed in and out.

Yes the gap is for the easy removal of the bed, and the doors do have rounded corners, but I didn't have a template, I went off their raw hole details. Won't be an issue.
Frank can you let me know what size wood you used for your cross members in the roof?
Also the lining you used for yours? was it from Arthurs, if so do you remember where in the shop you found it?
Cheers

Hi Wayne, yes the door holes shouldn't be an issue, I didn't cut mine out until the doors arrived. The beams are about 40 x 20 (I think 45x22 might ring a bell) treated pine from Demolition Supermarket. I don't know if they are a regular stock item for them or not. They were 3m long, so cut in half were perfect to get two beams. Sorted through to get good straight ones without knots and ling strait grane.
The inner liner was at Arthurs, on racks to the left of the front door outside under the veranda. I don't know if they still have it, Dale said that last time she was there they had that area full of their picture framing materials.

Hi Frank, I remember the racks outside of Arthurs and I had a dig around in there, wish I was working on my teardrop then.
I have printed a copy of the image you posted, I will take to Arthurs and ask if they have any hidden away in the bowels of the treasure trove.
Did you source you polystyrene from Demo W/house as well?
Working on the galley today, It's hard trying to fit a whole kitchen into such a small space.
Cheers :vroom:

We got the polly from Bunnings, when we were building the house.
Yes that galley takes a lot of thinking power. :? It is a case of saying to yourself. "do we really need that". :designing: I have just had a minor re-arrange in ours, and it looks like we have a bit more length in there.

Yes Frank, yours is longer than mine?

We have built ours 2.4x1.5, so you have .600 extra length to play with.
I am working on having two swing out boxes in galley that act as benches to increase the work area, and storage. They have to be easily removable to allow the mattress to be removed if need be. My mind is spinning with ideas, most impractical, but one of them will be the right one.
Also struggling with the colour scheme for the outside, tossing up between light blue or yellow, with white roof.
I wanted to ask you if you have a schematic of your wiring, so I can see how and why of the process.
Cheers

Hi Wayne, The swing out could work quite well. I have seen quite a few that have done it like that and with the vertical lower part at the back of yours if it was hinged right you could swing them around to be parallel in line with the bench. You have my mind going now :? you may be able to use them as lower back doors and have a half hatch coming down to meat them

Are you painting the outside or going with the ACL? I think you know which way I would be going, especially at the cost of the 2440x1220 sheets, you would just about spend that in some decent paint. And look at the time and effort it saves. Do one side yellow and the other blue. you can only see one at a time

I haven't got a plan of the wiring, but I have kept it as simple as possible.
12 volt = One interior light, one galley hatch light, one awning light each side, a fan in the roof vent, stereo and a 12v outlet under the galley bench to run the chiller. All the lights are LED. The 12v wiring all comes down to a fuse box under the galley bench. From there I have 8AWG wires going to the battery in a battery box outside next to the tongue box. DO NOT HAVE YOUR BATTERY INSIDE THE CABIN OR GALLEY.
230 volt = flush shore power connection in outside wall backs in to the galley cabinet there is a RCBO there that feed out to a double outdoor power point (inspector classed this as a wet area) each side above the bench, and a double power point each side above the foot of the bed. I also have another double point under the bench for the battery charger to keep the 12v charged when we are plugged in to 240v.
I have also got vehicles wired to charge TD while travelling. Stop, tail and indicators are a separate thing again.

Frank, I have already built rear door/flap so idea to use the swing-outs as lower sections of a door never crossed my mind, next time then for that idea.
We are using signboard from scooters for the sides and roof, and I like the idea of having two colours on the sides. I might have another colour on the galley door, ha ha.
I have a son who is a sparky, and he owes me heaps, so I will be picking his brain.

Sorry about that, the door idea only came to me as I was typing that out.
I had a look at scooters when we got ours, I think ullrich had sizes that suited us better. How did scooters compare on price?
What does your son do, automotive or household?

Scooters have the size that suits us and they are quite cheaper, with a 25% discount as well,
Our son has a business called GO Electrical Northland, and is based in Hikurangi, he focuses mainly on commercial, but does domestic if need be.
cheers :vroom:
