Instead of FRP you can use Filon or cover with fiberglass yourself with epoxy or polyester resin over plywood, or do a foamie to reduce weight and increase insulation, did you check the board foamie section? Aluminum is fine except it could be heavier than above mentioned choices which could be a factor for removable cabin, right?

The more I think on it, the more I realize that just serving 2 purposes (cargo trailer/basic camper shell) will be fine and not to worry about the removable aspect of the build. That way I can add more weight (within reason) to the shell with some interior finishes. So the outside covering weight may not be that much of an issue. The FRP panels are said to weigh 20# each. I am wondering, if I try them, whether they can be attached directly to the studs without additional under-ply of luan (or similar) ? Then cover the inside with luan for strength? Still working on the flooring and the lower sides now so have a while to go before I get to the frame and exterior covering. Building off of the 2 inch upper frame angles on the Carry-On trailer gives an additional 9 inches of height which is a plus, also adds a bit to the interior width. Filon has to be attached to sub-panels ( I think) so seems like a lot more difficult for a DIY-er to accomplish. Plus, from what I read it is very expensive. No place around here to get it, (that I know of), so would have to order it and add shipping costs.

I never used FRP, so cannot help there, but perhaps you could ask for a free sample/broken FRP piece to do some glue samples with the wall sandwich you are thinking of? PL Premium Polyurethane glue grabs just about anything, I also recall there is a special glue for FRP panels, not sure how strong it is, so if I were you I'd try some test pieces first before commiting to this method unless someone else on this board share their experience with FRP. I see no problem with just FRP skin, it is similar to fiberglass skin, provided you are adhering to rigid foam and studs(optional) at the back and glue it good on all surface so it works as a strong sanwdich skin, also thermal expasion difference between the glued materials maybe of concern, on top of UV exposure, that is why testing is a good call.
