I also cut mine a bit too big so they held themselves in place!

:P It's a new record. Three consecutive weekends of working on the teardrop. Yahoo-ie. :applause:

Before I could get started last weekend, I had to shovel this mysterious white stuff off the front sidewalk. This is a photo of my back yard.

Image

I then could move on to the garage. First order of business, remove all (8 million of) the screws that held the roof plywood skin while the adhesive cured and fill the holes with Plastic Wood.

Image

Next up, time for a little rough-in wiring for the front reading lights.

Image

Now the sidewalls can be insulated.

Image

(I cut the insulation loosely to fit, filled the gaps with spray foam, and trimmed the foam flush after it cured.)

Last project for the weekend is to sand the wood putty and mark the location of the roof spars.

Image

Three productive weekends in a row! I may make some spring camping trips after all. Next up, after a few minor details, is to add the plywood skin to the sidewalls.

Thanks, Tom

It's bad when Texas has snow and Kansas is basking in 60 degree sunshine (Saturday). That couldn't last long, though, so we're back to 23 degrees and a bitter north wind now.

I'm glad to see you're finding some solid time to get some work in. It's looking good!

:woohoo: Four weekends in a row for teardrop construction! Thank you everyone for your nice comments. They are keeping me motivated to get the Beatle campable before the heat hits. :ilovecamp:

The garage hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Tripping was bad enough, but when I couldn't find the ends of the five extension cords and the air line, then I knew it was time to put the shop in order.

Image

Other than some miscellaneous bits and pieces, it took most of the weekend to apply the exterior 1/8" plywood to the sidewalls. A zillion screws later, the plywood is on waiting for the PL Premium to cure.

Image

Then I removed a zillion screws, trimmed the plywood to the profile and cut the door openings with a router and template bit, and filled and sanded the screw holes.

Image

Although I did not get out to Cedar Hill State Park for the teardrop outing, at least I got quite alot done again this weekend.

 Gig'em, Tom

Nice job! I love that method of attaching the walls and roof that you have used. We missed ya this weekend but you were excused for a higher calling! So satisfying eh! you really ARE moving along!

5 weeks to beaver's bend so do your best and if you can't get it campable by then just remember doing it RIGHT is better than doing it twice. I hated missing a few gatherings (Matagorda Bay was the hardest) but then once you are camping, you will find the park is still there and we'll be glad to meet ya! I see it possible though!

Thomas,

I really wanted to come out to Cedar Hill this weekend to see everyone - it looked like y'all had a reat time - but getting the SB campable is priority number one right now. At least the weather was nice this past weekend for both camping and teardrop construction.
