Dan, I really like "The Eyes", really adds to the original idea. Danny

Yes, excellent window additions - they are called 'fox eyes' when that shape is used on motorbike headlamps.

That looks sweet. It looks like it's going to be all mill finish aluminum. That's going to be sharp!

roswell build

Postby dandan » Wed Mar 11, 2009 1:34 pm

Thanks Guys.

3 hours on it today.

turned it over to finish tacking the lower joints.
Image

then got in it to................
Image

make & fit the floor brackets.
Image

these will go all the way round the base, riveted on a 2" pitch & seam welded to the lower body edge.
2x2" box section chassis will go on the lower side of the bracket, hidden by the sides.
the floor will go above the bracket, pinching & fixing the bracket to
the chassis. (looking at it all the right way up.)

posting more soon when progress is made.
best rgds dan.

All I can say is I wish I had thought of windows there, cool idea! Only problem is now I see how I should have built mine. The roswell is being built by a master.

And Andrew thank you for putting dimensions to the orginal drawings.

roswell build

Postby dandan » Fri Mar 13, 2009 2:27 pm

Hi Del,

robbed the eyes idea from a computer generated picture produced by Mick or may be Aunti M.
dont have any original ideas myself !
its just lucky im an ex-tin-basher with the facilities & time to do this.
wouldnt have a clue how to do this out of any other material than metal.
also, its this site & its members which has made it possible too !
:applause: :applause: :applause:
cant wait to go & try it out at the Great Dorset Steam Fair in September.

best rgds dan.

roswell build

Postby dandan » Wed Mar 25, 2009 4:46 pm

Bing Bong !!!

Apologies for the poor progress being made here.
This is due to the project builder being a
"mamby-pamby git with a spine made of glass."
:O
Normal building will be resumed shortley.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Best rgds
dan.

You can't get round a back injury... its not as if you can work through it.

You'll be back ontop soon enough, and continue a legendary build... just rest up for now and get yourself ready for the next push... watching everyday to see the Roswell in all its glory!

Cheers, Dewi
