Tell me more about your paint type, brand and colors, please. I have been struggling to find a paint theme that goes with my black Jeep, but that does not collect so much heat that it melts my foam construction.

Those gray tones could work well for me and, since I am planning more of a scalloped graphic, there should be no conflict with artistic license.
The paint is simply Rustoleum oil based enamel. Stay away from any metalics. The dark gray is a stock color but the light gray they did not have so I made my own gray color with white and a little black added. The angular graphic bit would match well with a Jeep.

My plan was to make a sewn fabric element to use as part of the flip up top piece. It needs to encorporate an opening for a small window unit air conditioner. I was going to add a window in the door I am making and then thought instead about making the area that was to be fabric of the flip up, to instead be hard construction. I have a small pass through window from the truck cap I scavanged. I thought I could build it into the new flip top piece. Here is a photo with that window located about where it would go.

Once everything was in it was , mmmm, well ok, so its a small trailer.....really small...LOL
Trailers looking good, and plus 1 on the great paint job

Installed the roof today in a 100 degree garage. First I built up an edge to form a drip edge later:

Then I glued down the rubber membrane and wrapped it down the sides over the built up edge:

Then I capped the rubber membrane on the sides with a composite trim held down with lath screws:

Then I glued down rubber membrane onto the flip lid and wrapped it and tacked it underneath. Sorry it is covered with saw dust. Static electricity!:

I had already the EPDM roofing, but it is of course black. I shall have to purchase some white or aluminum coating for the roof as the black will be exceedingly hot.

I created the flip up hinged piece and secured the top to the trailer:

I think you'll be a lot happier using the solid infill sides.
They'll give it a much more 'finished' look overall. The
preliminary fit already looks good. Finished off and
painted out they'll look sharp. Have you decided yet
on how to secure it, both open and closed?

Cheers,

Yes and the solid sides are also good because a window AC unit is going to be installed on the opposite side and the fabric was not going to be easy to do cleanly because of it. As far as attachment I think I am going to keep it super simple. At first I was going to put piano hinge connecting the three segments but really it would not have folded properly for storage. When I put the pieces in place they do not budge already. They are captured on top by an overhang of a 3/4" lip and by a 1/2" lip at the roof opening. I plan on framing the three pieces on the inside and simply putting 4 through bolts joining the pieces. Maybe it sounds like a pain for set up but really pushing four through bolts through and securing with wing nuts on the inside should be really easy.

As far as in the closed position it will be secured from the inside somehow. Some kind of positive clasp. This clasp couls secure the lid to the sides in the up postion too. Myabe a couple of the rubber captures would be good.
