 Things are so dry here that I have a hunch that Californians are going to be staying close to home in July and August. Going into our 4th year of now unprecedented drought, it could be a really bad fire season. :NC

I have heard there is water in the lake at Shasta??
When we last stopped at Antlers on our way to the IRG last summer....you could almost walk across that arm of the lake.
See you at the Dam!! ;)

Yes, we, here in Northern California, are fortunate to have as much as we do in our dams, as we collect mostly rainfall from the rivers and creeks. However, our area provides the Los Angeles area with more than 90% of their water as well as taking care of ourselves. The mountain area snow pack was measured today and found to be just 6% of normal, which means there will be no replenishment of what we have as we draw it down. Some of the reservoirs, farther south of here, depend heavily on snow melt. So far, we are still in stage 2 of water conservation. California's governor has mandated that everyone cut back 25% of their water usage. But, it may get worse as the drought continues through the summer.

So, right now, we are okay; but, by July, things could be getting downright nasty. With the Sierras short 94% of their normal snowfall, I can almost smell the fires that we will be seeing then.

Miss Piggy got to come out of the Barn on Friday to meet Kermit for the first time.
Kermit has had to go up for a bit of a time out in the barn, as I need the shop space for other projects.
But, I did get the wheels back from the powder coaters this week and the tires mounted.130328

Hi Brian, that is looking good.
When I saw those front windows I said to Dale that you are going to have to paint a pair of eyes in them :SG
Re the skirts on the guards/wings/fenders, now that I have seen kermie out in the open, I have to agree with Sandi on that one. Show off the wheels with some nice chrome hub caps (or whatever you call them).

Thanks Frank
I forgot to mention that there is just a rear end temporarily tacked in Not in the right place! to move it around until my new Dexter gets here! Scheduled to be shipped this Tuesday!
Axle will be about 5 or 6 " ahead. (centered in the wheel well)
And yes! I have stainless ribbed beauty rings and stainless baby moons for my new wheels.
But the skirts I want to build will be ribbed to match the 47 Pontiac fenders and could be stunning????

I didn't think that it was the correct axle in there yet.
The bands and baby moons will be perfect. 8)
You will have to do a mock up of the skirts and let us have a look, even just tape some similar colour paper over the hole.

Kermit is looking awesome!!! Any way to fit a continental kit on the front for the spare? I think you really should have one of those mounted spotlights they used to add in the 50's,, that could be turned from inside- would be great for camping and would suit the part :)

Yes, the possibilities are endless.
Very hard for me to follow the K.I.S.S. method of building most of the time  but I do have to try and restrain myself.
Things have slowed down this past month, with camping season started and the Farm needing attention.
Hope to get back to Kermit in June! :worship:

Kermit will give you plenty to do and think about next winter. Enjoy the camping season. Miss Piggy doesn't mind camping. Chances are, she'll get a bit of a "vacation" next summer, though.

^^ What Sharon said !

Good to see you are making progress and you've got a trailer to get out and enjoy (and she's a TD celebrity, just like her diva namesake !)

I'm still looking forward to coming up for the Farm Gathering, though it'll probably be without an interior.
And we just hired an extra guy so I think I can take an extra day ! :dancing :wine: :dancing

Jeez I must need a life! I just read through all 252 posts in this thread. I've heard about Kermit but wasn't sure what sort of critter she is. Looks very interesting Brian. Looking forward to seeing it up close and personal.

Hi Jim
Can't wait to show Kermit to you in person. ;)
Unfortunately though, I have not been able to work on it the past two months.
Did move it back down to the shop.....but still have other chores in front of it.

Okay....it has been a 3 month break on Kermit now. :(
Still to many other things keeping me out of the shop.
But, the Fall Gathering is behind us now. I am waking up in the morning after dreaming about Kermit all night.
the ideas are starting to flow again!
But it is Camping Season and Miss Piggy is eager to get off the Farm for another adventure. ;)
She will get her chance again in a couple of days............she loves to burn up those USA roads.
I will get back to Kermit soon.....I hope.
