It's very sweet. I've been following along where time permits and just have to comment on how inspiring I find your enthusiasm and resourcefulness for tip treasures. You've done some really creative stuff and it shows.

Chuffed for you and Nicola and your team of enthusiasts/helpers. Thanks for the fun-to-read record, including hair pulling moments. Enjoy your achievement tremendously! :applause:

I know he must have had the time of his life today... a car guy at a car show who's built something different; something appealing to everyone...

:D

I for one am eagerly awaiting pics from the Ford show.

Beautiful Finish

Postby down under tech » Sun Jun 06, 2010 9:40 am

Hi Grizz & Nicola: I have been so busy lately that I couldn't take the time to commend you on the great job you have done on your GRIZZ-POD. It turned out beautifully and I can't see any of the defects that you have mentioned during the build. I know mine has some defects. It just take well planed fixes to make them not so obvious. Thank God for trim pieces. I hope your first "Road Trip" has been a great success and your accommodations were more than adequate. You know, now you must become a "Tour Guide". Everywhere you go, everyone and their dog is going to ask about the GRIZZ-POD and they will want to know how much it will cost for you to build one for them. Just give them an astronomical price and if they say yes, you are off on the build of the GRIZZ-POD II. Number II should be a quicker build. I have learned a lot about building TD trailers since I am building the "Silver Nugget" as well as helping Pam M. with the big stuff on her build. I want everyone to go on her blog and demand, nicely of course for her to UPDATE it. I know for a fact she has got a lot done but hasn't posted yet.

PS: Grizz where are your pics of your outing from this week end??? Make sure you take the GRIZZ-POD on the honeymoon, and don't forget to bring Nicola !!! (LOL) If you did that, forget to take her, it might become "Your" NEW HOME...

Thanks Guys.

Well, I am back, trailer unpacked, stored, bedding in the wash, and a couple of mads planned.... nothing big, but running the small electric cooler box on the Tow vehicles 12V and Ice bricks the first day, and then the 12Volt spare battery the 2nd day.

I will do a full write up and loads of photos in a couple of days, right now I am just procrastinating, as I have my manager out tomorrow for the day with me, and I should be preparing for her.

I took a load of car pics and a few weird interest pics at the show.

THE TRAILER WAS A HIT ! ! !

Loads of people coming to take a look, chat and saying they wanted one too.

Tonight I will only post a few pics.

Firstly, before we left,I pulled over and took a pic of just how wide the trailer runs VS the VW Touran.

Image

Next pic is where we camped at Santa Pod Raceway. Far away from the noise, and close to the edge of the field.
This is Nicola with her first cuppa tea from the galley. Well Chuffed.

I have to also make a confession at this point.

I Love Nicola, she makes the whole Teardrop Trailer thing worthwhile, my days are so much better for having her in them.

Image

We spent the weekend as always with Dave "Oldbus" , Thorsten, Michael, Ulla and Dave's son Christian, older son Alex has final exams on Monday, so could not make this years trip.

As always the weekend was too short, and I had work on my mind.

The Grizz-Pod did however get it's first rain test, and it was not a force 9 gale, but certainly a decent half hour or more of solid rain.

NO LEAKS TO REPORT !!

This was what the skies looked like just as it opened up to start tipping it down.

Image

Next up a couple of pics for the American Teardroppers.
Without whose help and motivation I would have been in more trouble than I care to admit.

Thanks to Teardrops and Tiny Travel Trailers, as well as Tearjerkers.

Santa Pod was a WWII air station, with American presence.

Here is a memorial stone to all those who made the greatest sacrifice.

Image

This pic gets the Stars and Stripes in the background of the Grizz-Pod - Perfect.

A salute to the origins of my trailer.

One pic for Chris Squier - Teardrop-Focus.

Here is a modded Ford Focus for you.

Image

And one for the rest of us..... Huge V8 and very fast down the strip.

Love the writing on the rear.

Image

Lastly, we had a delay of about 40 minutes on the way back, with stop and start traffic.

At one point on the Dartford Bridge we stopped completely, wich made for a very quick, one shot photo opportunity.
And what a lucky shot, taken with the camera pointed rearward in my hand, and no focus.

Great pic to end the 220 mile maiden trip of the Grizz-Pod with.

The rest of the pics to be posted later this week.

Image

I guess I cannot do a quick report.

Rest to follow soon, if you guys Want to see more.
Greetings from England.

Rian.

Hoping to get it all done in time.

 :o  :o

YESS WOW! The Grizz Pod looks awesome and it is great that you were able to take it out for it's maiden voyage so soon after completing it! I love the look of the door and how you let the sides go lower than the frame, it looks super clean!

I enjoyed getting caught up on your last few pages! (Sometimes I lose track here!) It takes a real man to say I love you too by the way! Nicola seems like a great woman and a good match for you! That is nice to be able to share the experience of building with someone and then be able to share the completed product!

I must admit I spend a good deal of time enjoying my rear view mirror as well when I am towing mine!

This image is beautiful....

Posted a bunch more in the thread linked up above as not all pics had uploaded.

I love the fact that a car as beautifull as these two can me upstaged by a Patina's original paint stock looker like the one below.....

That then concludes the pics of the Grizz-Pod's first outing.

I am sure there will be loads of updates over time.

Spent a deal of time drooling over the classics.

You are blessed; a fine self-engineered tear, a fine lady to spend time with, and many friends to provide a fine time.
