You're right about the screen, but other than the odd mozzy, we don't have much to worry about. No snakes, deadly spiders, croc's. bears, wolves in New Zealand.

Gluing up the big sheet for the roof.

Real happy with how the hatch came out. Haven't trimmed or fitted to the body yet. I need to buy some more trucking straps to glue the main roof down. Time for a beer!

Nice work on the windows and hatch. You look like you will be ready in no time.

Still very busy with work, the football season ends in a few weeks so will have to get stuck in to it then.

Have had the odd minute to get bits done.

Stole a door lock off an old screen door I had under the house. Nice and narrow.

Hi Jeff,
Good to see a bit of progress. How is the time frame looking to be ready for Brits at the beach? We probably won't get there, things are still a bit thin on the job front for Dale. However we have just booked a camp site at Hahei, for Waitangi weekend (6-8 Feb 2015), the Capri Car Club are having their summer camp there as the Leadfoot Festival is on that weekend.http://www.leadfootfestival.com/

I also had a reply from another Kiwi who had just joined TNTTT. He is under the name ATODDY. His thinking about a Removable, I told him about your build. I don't know what part of NZ he is from.

I will fit everything like trim, locks, windows, etc then remove to apply the two pot finish. Should get into a most screw holes etc if im careful.

I have booked two nights at the Brits at the Beach so I need to be finished in 4 weeks or I will be sleeping in the car!

6th February 2015, would have joined you, was planning on going to Rod Millens Leadfoot Festival there the same weekend but forgot its our wedding anniversary and have booked a trip to Queenstown.

I am sure your wife would love Leadfoot. Petrol fumes and tyre smoke, far more romantic than Queenstown! :?

Hi Jeff
I'm trying to send you a pm but with no luck

Dale & Frank here from Whangarei.
Great to see more Kiwis catching the teardrop bug. Even more so as you are a fellow Classic Ford enthusiast. We have Capris, a 1962 Consul Capri, and 1986 Mk3 2.8 injection. Most of the towing so far has been behind the '62, but I finally fitted a towbar on to the 2.8i, and we went to Waihi with the Capri club over Waitangi weekend. Be warned, if you take them to car shows, don't expect to see any of the show your self, as you will get mobbed by everyone wanting to look at your TD.
All the best with your build, and you never know we may even catch up with you at Brits by the Beach.
Regards Frank.

Ive got about 3 coats on the inside, first coat to the exterior.

I have taken all the trim, lights, door, lock, mud guards etc off, filled the screw holes and am clear coating.

Will check back in soon.

Cheers

Hi Jeff,
Looking good.
What's happening inside? Are you planning to get that done before you go away?

Hi Frank,

Main job is to get exterior done. Then I will carry on with the inside. I have 3 coats done inside already, but need about 6. I can see it being a mad panic towards the end of the month.

Being busy putting on International Spar Varnish. Lots of coats and plenty of sanding.

Putting all the trim back on now. Sunroof fitted, door on.

Had a bit of last minute ( no planning) thinking to do re hatch edge.

Am going to get some leather straps made by the local shoe repairer and classic bike man for the hatch and to stop the door opening to far.

Only 13 days to go!! Must get back to it. Dont want to be sleeping in a tent at the car show.

I like the grain on the hatch.
13 days! You have got loads of time. I am sure you could sleep in it as it is. Did you remember to get the tow bar on the Escort?
 It's a shame that we won't be joining you there. But then again, we have our LOTTO tickets for tonight.
