Woohoo! im officially done with the floor now, front and rear supports are on and working, i danced the Macarena on my trailer.





Next week, the ceiling. I've got the panels, spars a plenty, measurements in my pocket, ready to go. My plan is to build it flat, mount some temporary blocks and lower it on the walls, fasten the spars, remove the blocks, open up a bottle of beer.

Started on the ceiling last week, first i made the 3 panels into one long panel folowing the method in the generic Benroy plans.


When the glue was set, the spars with the blocks could be mounted, with some clamps and weight on the center to hold it all down.


And look at that, a nice flat panel!


The weather isn't cooperating at the moment, its way to cold to paint in my workshop, so i need to wait, see if i can find some things to do indoors with the materials i have.

I couldn't wait any longer (yes, i'm that anxious to build) and painted the ceiling anyway, going against the manufacturers recommendations.



It came out quite nice anyway, though i had the heater running for 5 full days to keep it above freezing during the snowdays last week.

Today i mounted the walls, lots of sealant between it and the floor (yes, its mounted on the floor in stead of against it).




It went on quite easy, and i like it :-)
As i had the ceiling finished anyway, i decided to put it on, quite dificult to handle all by myself, but it worked!





This feels soo good, (i can't describe it without some NSFW exclamations) finaly having something to see, cheers guys and gals!


While being bored last week i finally decided on a name, i know its not original, but it surely reflects its use (see below) :-)

Got the ceiling atached, you know the drill, and the screws, and even the glue.


Darn, there's a hole in my ceiling, wonder what to do with it?


I raided the old paint closet and found some good quality stuff, a layer of beige and a second layer of "terra" and the wood should be well protected.


I even made a board to bang my head on,


and miraculously it fits! Not varnished yet though.

Thanks for the support guys, much appreciated after yesterdays fiasco.


I forgot to check the length of the staples in my pneumatic nailgun. bye bye footboard.

But ive made a new one today, together with some other pieces for my galley.

Ouch. Maybe could have upholstered it, or put a thin skin on it to save it, but I can understand wanting to redo it the way you had originally envisioned. Especially on a signature piece like the head board.

Lesson learned the hard way. You will overcome and it will be nice in the end like the rest of your work. Chin up.

Ah well, it was only the footboard luckily, so not too much to be seen anyways. The new one will not be two tone but functional none the less.

Well, i spend some time on my galley last sunday, sawing and mocking up mostly.



And it looks like clamp city over here.
