Glue saga revisited!
Well the glue for the bubble in the ply held until a day or two after those rebates were routed. A friend put me on to polyurethane glue, it is far more suitable to the task.
1. It is runny so got down where the construction adhesive could not
2. It only takes 24hr to full strength not 2 weeks!
3. It seems stronger. Though this could be the higher surface area gripping thanks to point 1

After taking the clamps off I cut away the expanded excess with a sharp knife then ran around with the router again to clean up.
Amazingly I can't tell now which is the re-glued ply, except for one small swelled section where it was not clamped quite enough.

Well the glue has held for weeks now. On to the next phase. I have built a circle jig for the router and used it to cut trim to secure the porthole glass.
My lovely wife has been busy applying the first coat of Jarra stain on them and the outside of one wall. Next up ; cut out the other door.

You need as much room to store those jack stand as you do a whole trailer????

Thanks. They actually nest pretty well when not in use. I has been handy to lift off the bit under construction with out disturbing it to use the trailer...

Today a lot came together that has been in preparation for a while. Glass is in the port holes, doors are fitted (but will come off again at some point to do the Wylie Windows) and the spars are up. The framing for the vent/fan is in. I just need to frame up the fusebox then I can start on the ceiling and roof.


I have yet to do a contrasting trim around the port holes on the outside. I think it will look really good when I do.

When I went to buy my roofing ply they could only supply sheets that bend on the long axis so I am going to have a join run along the centre line. The sheets are 1200mm wide and the teardrop is 1530 wide.

I have now added a longitudinal rib that I cut out of scrap from a shipping crate.

A milestone day today. The ceiling is in! In hindsight I should have left the door and window trims until after this but we got it in around them anyway.

I am making a shelf above the pillows for phones, books and other assorted oddities. I didn't have an off cut long enough to go the width of the tear. But I did have a shipping crate rescued from work to recycle. Two layers of the thin ply from the crate will be good and stiff over the span. So I am glueing​ up a layer with 1/3 pieces over a layer with 1/2 length pieces. With a bit of pine trim on the front edge it should be functional and look good.

suggest you consider installing the shelf high enuff to be able to sit up fully or it may become a head knocker

Absolutely. Already had a mattress down for a head hitting test. :-)
It will be almost level with the top of the doors. This also gives room to mount reading lights underneath it.

Finally had a chance to do some more this weekend. Prepped my roof sheets with "the mix", retouched some damage on the interior, prepped the shelf and cut the ceiling for the vent.
