Love the BBQ!

I drive those KW "lorries" and the Chev panel trucks are still available here in the States for whatever, depending on condition. I would imagine shipping one would be near the purchase price...

:NC

Yep, these panel vans are stupidly expensive here once profiteering, import costs, taxes etc are added.

I will just keep on drooling. :R

Thought I would add this here, as it links in to the new house buy and the money I lost selling my existing place.

Got this mower at the council tip on Monday after work, gave it to a colleague who needed it on Tuesday morning 07.30 when he popped in for a coffee.

Image

The popped in to the skip yard later the same morning by 08.30 and was given this one of the back of a trailer....

Brought it home yesterday and tonight after work, I pulled it out the garage, and pulled once, started beautifully, cut my outside lawn, found it to be self propelled, and had a tank of fuel.... the guy tipping it was in a very new Discovery and had bought a new mower..... happy days.

Checked the price of this one which cuts a 17" or 45cm wide section of grass..... £249.99 at B&Q.

I am chuffed as I do not have a mower for the new house yet.

This is the way I am able to reel in the loss I made selling my house at a loss.

House sales in the UK are mad affairs, the buyer and seller can pull out on the day of contract exchange, at which point a lot of money will have been spent by both parties, so lets hope it all works on the 30th July.

I just use sparks and flash from the welder to keep the leg hairs under control.

Should you not be in bed ??[/quote]

... rarely do people in Canada pull out of house buys / sales but they may have the sale of there house as a condition of the buying contract ... all the best; thats a great property; love the meandering drive ... where is the new house? in Kent?

I posted at 10 pm yesterday; as I am again posting at 10 pm in Vancouver; what does it indicate on your end? and what time ... your -8 hrs so that makes it 2 pm? ... this is my leasure entertaiment time before bed ... I hit the sac by 11 ish ... if you had boobs i'd say "sweet dreams" ...lol

Jammy for sure.

I take the loss on the house personally..... so reeling in losses this way makes me feel better.

BC Dave, yes, new house is in Kent. It is actually on the land between the Thames River and Medway river..... yes, it is high enough.

Here the sale is often dependant on a long chain of people getting it all right on a single date.

We are buying private, and our buyer is a new buyer, so we are dependant on my house passing the Full engineers inspection which is actually tomorrow at 1pm.

Keep those fingers crossed .

At Classic Ford and other meetings , Oldbus and others always have the BBQ.

However, we do not know who we will be camping with at the Retro Show in July at Santa Pod, so I thought it wise to make a small 2-3 person BBQ that can be abused and used as needed.

Picked up a couple of empty Helium tanks today from Party balloon suppliers at the tip, along with a Briggs and Stratton petrol lawnmower.

2 Angle grinders, hammer, vice, mig welder, some bicycle seat uprights, a handlebar cut in half and some offcut stainless steel mesh, an hour playing in the garage, and we have a basic BBQ that should work just fine.

Image

Quick cut here, and there....

Image

Leaving me with this

Image

Small rest area on side for meatbowl to rest on and keep meat warm till all is ready to eat.

Image

Hacksaw and welder later, has us with a functional tool, just need to cut the slots for the air to flow through.

Image

Trust you like.

I really would have prefered to have used a Jerry can and made a closing lid BBQ with handle, but not having a jerry can meant having to resort to this.

The other one is to cut in half so that I can use it as a recessed section in the gas bottle and battery box, below the top level of the A-frame of the trailer at the front.

I have to say you do get some good deals and the BBQ idea?  :applause: Needd i say more?

Thanks Chuckles..... I guess I do keep my eyes open, and I do not have an issue with "used" items, if they mean I save a few dollars, Pounds, that I can spend elsewhere.

Intersting how one gets addicted to things.

The build of this trailer had it's ups and downs.

Now I find that with extra time on my hands, I am looking for stuff to do.

Today we found two identical Dino's at the bootfair. 20p each...... bargain.

I have been looking for ways to camouflage the base into which the poles fit for the galley, from ally Budweiser ber bottles to bits of wood etc.

When I saw the first one of these, it was going to be a mascot.

Then I found the 2nd one, and just knew it would be made to cover the base, with the pole going throigh the back ofit.

I also varnished the exterior another coat, about no 5 I think. and did the floor of the galley and sealed it around the bottom edge with some silicone both for water and gas entry into the cabin section.

Last thing I did was to open a tin of thinners and use some of it to get the glue from the Sellotape I had used along the edges where the Sikaflex went off the ally. Actually an easy job.

Dinos in place.

Say it isn't so! :NC

Although I'm sure that when I'm done... wait... I'll never be done, and if by some miraculous achievement I do find my teardrop finished, I'll spend a few evening a week with it near the shore, burning my Coleman lanterns as I bbq some steaks for the darling wife and I.

:Flippin Burger:

Or is that, "bbq the lanterns as I burn some steaks..."

:scratchthinking:

Love the dinos! It all fits in w/ the Sinclair motif! :applause:

Griz not read the full thread here sorry but if you have had buyers pull out at the 11th hour I can sympathise we had it happen to us when we were selling our house before TWICE!! The first time the guy lost his job and couldnt get a mortgage (felt for him but didnt help our house sale) and the second time the guy ahd some test done at hospital before they made an offer got the results the day we were due to sign contracts and was advised against the stress of moving
Boys never grow in to men the toys just get more expensive and more dangerous

How true :)

Well, the last couple of weeks have been filled with other stuff, like living and spending time with Nicola.

This week I stole some time after hours to make up the rear vallence out of ally sheeting too, so that it fits in with the rest of the trailer.

Scott (Jabbo) will be around some time to connect the right bits up , as I am not too good with it. I have laid and fitted wires to everything, including a pair of side lights, which I modified to only shine from the one side, and not the other or the top, these will be number plate lights.

Those of fleet eye will note that the reflectors are upside down..... but then at night reflections do not stop just because they are upside down. It fitted the best with the space I do have.

The lights you will remember were an exhorbitant impulse buy at last years Battlesbridge show and autojumble @ £15/pair.
Mark (Nightmares Racing) polished all the lettering off them for me as well. These are from Austin 1100 and also London Black Cab Taxi's.

Backing plate made up.

Image

All the bits laid out and ready to fit on the Old Grizz Sinclair trailer.

Image

Fitted, now just needs to be wired up the the existing harness.

I am quite pleased with the way they came out, just need to see it out in the open now.

Right, next stop : RETRO SHOW - Santa Pod in 2 weeks.

Well, the bus is home.

Fetched it yesterday, and the hottest day of the year, along with taking 3 hours to get home due to other car breakdowns on the Dartford bridge still was not enough to kill it off.

It was 35'C outside, and I had the engine cowl open, along eith the door, a'la racing driver car.
Crawling along for many miles.

Did 80 miles at 65mph, and all is good.

I did forget how noisy it is compared to my VW Touran daily though.

Pulls like a steamtrain.

THANKS TO EDD WEEKS (Bodieanddoyle) FOR DOING THE WHOLE JOB. Also the MOT and various other litle fidly jobs he did for me.

Nicola calls Edd her " Little WIZARD "

Hopefully next weekend it will be at Santa Pod along with the Grizz-Pod.
Greetings from England.
