 I just noticed this thread has had almost 14,000 views, I think I was at least half of them

I started making the door this morning. The plan (I've got no plan ) is to build a dutch door with a cross-buck lower door and the upper door will have a 2 pane awning window.

Oh boy! I get to use my pocket hole jig.

I found a new use for duct tape.

The lower door; 2 layers of 5.2mm red oak plywood epoxied back to back with the frame on the outside, cross-buck pieces will go in next.

Hello Dee Bee,

Well, you didn't miss anything, I guess I did. Here's a view of under the bed, shows the fresh water tank, gray water tank and power converter I will have more boudoir photos soon

I have admired your fit and finish and want to see what you have done in the back room...

The dutch door looks nice so far. You don't plan on towing that in a driving rain do you? :?

I prefer not to tow my little campers in the rain, but in the event that it does, I hope my efforts make it somewhat moisture resistant. I figure the faster I go the more pressure on the door and gaskets surrounding it. Whatayathink? I think it'll be a leaker for sure. Now you know what the duct tape was for.

Kerry,

Are you referring to the self-sealing continuous hinge and door latching system? :D

When you flee hurricanes, are you driving in the rain? Is this a hurricane evac trailer? Just wondered...

having some experience fleeing hurricanes, it's best to always leave EARLY, before the rain , and endless traffic congestion... 8)

Never had to flee, :worship: hope I don't. Boarded up the house 3 times in 2004 and watched 4 hurricanes pass by.

I fit the door last night. The side opposite the hinge has a clearance of about 0.025 - 0.035 of an inch, will have a foam seal behind that. That might slow water ingress a little.

Thanks John, on some things I try to work to close tolerance, and sometimes it works out. Amazing what you can accomplish with dial calipers and a pair of reading glasses
