In Australia,

Towing capacity braked 700 kg
Towing capacity unbraked 500 kg

Here in the US, Mazda says, "The Mazda 2 should not be used for towing."

I've heard similar things about early Miatas (mine's a '91). A friend of mine who hails from the UK says that they're rated to tow about 1400lb in Europe, while here in the States Mazda does not recommend towing with them. Same car, different lawyers...

I figure I should be okay if I can keep the weight to around 600-700lb loaded, although I realize this might take some doing if I'm building on a Harbor Freight frame.

Put brakes on the trailer. Stopping is much harder than starting. Let the trailer brakes stop the trailer, and the Miata brakes stop the Miata. Then you can use the entire 1,400 lbs if you so desire.

This was posted in the trial section of Advrider.

Have to say, it is lovely, and pretty much the look I would love to get with this bike. Even if it is hardtailed, same basic looks.

I've been away from this site for a while.
First off, congrats on finishing the Grizz-Pod and also for getting married..

And with the beaut job you did.. guess I'll have to stop taking the pee out of English DIY.
I've got a mate out here originally from Blighty who just makes me shake my head with his handyman skills.. but you've singlehandedly managed to salvage the masculinity of an entire nation. Well done :D

Thanks AussiePeej, I just get on with stuff.

A lot of the stuff I do probably would not find any interest here, and I cannot change all the pics I post to Tinypic size.

Here is what I am up to this week and next week.

Being unemployed has its benefits too, though I would rather be in a job right now.

And the next job after the BBQ.

I hope to have a decent woodwork room before winter gets back here.

This summer/spring is great, but very dry, about 8 weeks since we had rain where we live.
Greetings from England.

I am quite envious of your skills!

I saw an episode on TV where they showed how to make concrete counter tops. I have a potting bench in the back yard that is going to get a concrete makeover, in much the same manner as your BBQ!

Dear Rian,

You clearly, with all the progress on your various projects, have too much time on your hands!

Me too, but "horizontal" far too much.

Cheers,

Gus

Hi Gus, too much time indeed.
Spent most of today tinkering with the bits of prep before I start laying bricks in earnest tomorrow.

Still, I would rather have a regular job, than tinker.

Look after yourself Gus.

Another taster for Cliff and other interested parties.

Tonight I am really tired.

This is how far I got today with the build.

Rest of the pics are in the tread, for which the links are higher up in this build thread.

I must admit, Rian, you have some interesting builds. Glad I came across the BBQ. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

That looks mighty sharp, Rian! I remember a friend who started a fire in his new fireplace before the mortar had dried out completely, and it blew up on him! How long do you suppose you will have to wait before cooking?
God Bless
