My guess is that you'll never miss the cooler in the galley. When I configured my galley, I realized that any cooler or built in icebox would either take up most of the cabinet space or be smaller than what was needed for anything other than a weekend trip. Hence, I bought a nice big Coleman cooler at the outlet store and it sits on the ground just fine. Plus, I have plenty of room for beer this way.

After a 10 day trip last summer, I'd do it just the same again. By the way, 10 days does require a reload. Coleman doesn't make a cooler big enough to hold 10 vacation days worth of beer.

Nice to see some new photo's, Tom. I really like the way you are doing your A/C, very interesting way to route the return. Of course, the galley looks to be up to your normal standards. Very nice work.

Yup! I realized that same thing after my few few trips and saw that I spent hardly any time at my own site and you gotta bring the suds with ya!

I'm glad to hear that not keeping the cooler in the galley is not a major feaux pas.

We usually use a three cooler method for camping - two small hard side coolers.and one soft-side cooler. One of the hard side coolers is for food. The other is for adult beverages"liquid refreshments". The soft side cooler is used for "travel mode" for refreshments.

Tom, I really like your galley design. I am working through my galley construction and decided to use the space I had originally built in for a cooler for storage instead. I decided I would end up looking at a big empty hole at the campsite with the cooler on the ground and wonder why I didn't use the space more efficiently. It's all about maximizing space! Looking forward to seeing your completed galley

:( Okay, this isn't really an update about my teardrop. I'm just trying to relieve some anxiety and frustration.

As you have probably seen, the Dallas-Fort Worth area has had some winter weather. We're not used to the snow and ice, even though our current situation has been miniscule compared to the northern parts of the country.

My wife's and my employers both called off work today. So, we decided to run a few errands mid-morning. I was driving our 2007 CR-V in a straight line at about 20 mph on the snow and ice covered road when, for some reason, the car snapped to the left. I was doing a constant speed - not accelerating or braking. The car slid passenger side forward into opposing traffic and we collided with another vehicle that was probably going 30 mph. We hit passenger front quarter to driver front quarter.

Both cars were totalled. Fortunately, other than aches and pains, no one in either car was hurt. My wife, in the passenger seat of our CR-V, took most of the impact. Thank goodness for airbags, door side intrusion panels, etc.

The CR-V was our one "good car." I had just paid off the note on it last month. Anyway, we will be okay physically. That's all that matters.

Thank you for letting me burn up a few electrons to get this off my chest.

Take care, Tom

Oh crap! Totaled?? And you just paid it off??? I would have some frustrations too... My neighbor had one exactly like yours and the same thing happened. Of course the insurance company didn't give them enough to buy a used comparable one (who no knowledge of how it had been taken care of either).

I am sorry to hear that Tom.

Thanks for the nice thoughts, Thomas.

I now have a new challenge - finding a tow vehicle in time for Beavers Bend. Our car inventory is down to a '93 Ford Festiva with 270,000+ miles and a '97 Pathfinder with 230,000+ miles. The engine is strong enough in the Pathfinder, but the automatic transmission is flaky. I don't like changing ATF on a vehicle in that condition - sometimes that puts the final nail in the coffin of the transmission - but I may do fluid and filter replacement to see how that works out.

Take care,
Tom

Glad to hear you guys are ok. Not sure if you Like Jeep Cherokees or not but they are plentiful, cheap and very reliable. the 4.0 liter 6 and aw4 automatic combo is pretty bulletproof. I've owned a couple of them...

Glad to hear both of you are okay. That could have been much more serious. We had something like 120 accidents in corpus the the six hour period after the ice started forming.
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

I'm so glad the two of you made it through without serious injury Tom. Very sad to hear about your car though. When we were looking for a new TV we did it on line. Found a 2004 Element in another state and had it shipped. It was a little scary buying a car this way we got it for thousands less than in our area. I hope your insurance company does right by you.

Take Care,

Dave
