We are up near Toledo.

Yep, as soon as my membership to tearjerkers is approved I plan to hit up some of the Buckeye gatherings and any others that sound interesting. Hope to get to meet you at one!

The tires are standard 12" trailer tires...I didn't want automotive tires as they are not proper for Trailering.

Here are some pix of the Sandwich walls being built...unfortunately it took longer than I had anticipated to build ONE wall...but now that I have the hang of it I am hoping it goes faster on wall #2.

It took me like 5 days to build the first wall (finally done!)

My 2nd wall should be done tomorrow (much much faster than wall #1)

Question for you: How thick are the walls?

Thanks! I am definitely not a carpenter...I am a wood-hack.

anyway, I am using 1/4" ply, 3/4" 1x3 framing and 1/4" ply for a total wall thickness of 1.25" thick.

The Blue insulation foam board is 3/4" thick from Lowes and it does not compress.

Wall #2 was completed in a day and half. MUCH faster than Wall #1.

Ok, apparently I never paid attention, because I am not really using 1/4" ply for interior and exterior walls, it is infact 3/16"

so my walls are a total of 1.125" (1 1/8") thick.

The interior walls have been stained and 2 coats of Poly...waiting for them to dry so I can mount them the floor finally

"Daanng"

Postby down under tech » Sun Mar 28, 2010 5:51 pm

Hi Bald Guy: I have to say, Daanng! I think you are on to something there. You better keep your trailer inside your garage, because if you leave it out so people can see it, they will ask if you will make them one, too. Wait, that might not be a bad thing. All I see is quality craftsmanship.
It is going to be a great TD after you've finished it. :applause:

Yuo will like the sandwich walls at night; really quite. That is how we built ours and it's fabulous. Good work!! By the way; where did you find those cool wheels...would the fit the hardor freight 4 bolt pattern?

Yep those wheels are regular 12" trailer wheels and fit all 4 bolt trailer hubs.

I haven't had many updates over the past few months but am back on turbo mode now and will have a lot more photos to show soon.

Wheels do make a huge difference.

I love the way you are building from the inside outward, makes a lot of sense..... versus my making the inner walls fit when I made the walls of the grizz-Pod.
Greetings from England.

Rian.

Hoping to get it all done in time.
