Didn't much care for the red trailer so I am in the process of painting it with Hammered Metal Paint. Both of my wheels arrived scratched so I decided to add my personal touch to them.

Almost done with the inside. Added an extending arm for my IPad. There will be a shelf above the mount for my Ipad Bluetooth speaker.

Kitchen is looking good. Waiting for my taillights. They will mount on the frame in the back. Hated the stock ones that stuck out from the sides. Still putting off building the drawers :)

They turned out pretty good. Not perfect but only I know the difference. That pretty much completes the kitchen. I still need to make some shelves but I have to consult with my wife on those. ;)

I also started skinning the roof. Not my favorite part but it's going okay.

Guess what I have been working on. Not too bad so far. Getting better with the Jigsaw, but still have a hard time following the line. Going to have to order my hurricane hinge.

How much should I allow for overhang on my hinge? Thought about doing one inch on each side. Is that enough?

Well, the entire tear is skinned. The hatch turned out pretty good. Hooked it up and pulled it around the block today. Pulled well and it was great to see it hooked up. Still a ways from camping but making steady progress. :)

Looks great! You're farther along than when I first went camping in our teardrop. On one outing I saw someone pitch a tent on the trailer deck that was going to be their teardrop.

It is such a good feeling pulling it out of the garage for the first time. A sense of pride and accomplishment. Did you get an answer on the hinge? I think they recommend a 1" overhang to deflect water.

I'm dry fitting my hinge now and building my hatch. It is a bit intimidating but i will persevere!

Your build looks great.

I have to have mine campable by the 28th so i'm gonna be busy!

Good luck!

Thanks guys. We are going camping next weekend but we are taking tents. I was going to try and take the trailer but it is not quite ready and I don't want to tear up anything trying to take it too early. The biggie is the hatch hinge. I ordered it and am waiting for delivery. I am still trying to source aluminum for the roof. Our local supplier has .020 gauge in stock but I am not sure if that is too thin. I am going to go look at it. The price is right at $44.00 dollars a sheet for 5x8. Anybody have any experience with that thickness of aluminum?

My hatch turned out okay. It protrudes on one side about 1/4 of an inch but I am thinking about using draw type latches to pull in the sides against the seals. The hatch only took me a day to build and skin so It wasn't too bad. The local lumber store was out of 1/8 mahogany but had what they called door skins in mahogany. They were 3x7 and seemed to bend around the curves even better than the standard 1/8 mahogany so it worked out okay.

Put on the aluminum this weekend. It was a lot of work but worth it. It looks awesome. Still have to trim the sides for the hatch but the results are bueno. :)
