Loved that video! Do you by chance have a GOS track of that trail? I have been wanting to go to Wendover for a long time now and would love to run that trail.

I don't have a GPS but I use a map-book that shows dirt roads/routes ect. I don't fully trust em" . Ive seen people get lost using gps's but some people swear by em' .
Picked it up at Utah/Idaho supply Map world.

Whoa
I pulled out my winter sleeping bag and looked under the foam. I couldn't believe how much dust settled down there, I never noticed beforehand . I guess I'll have to limit my dirt road excusions .

Great now im gonna have to pull it all out and blow out all the dust before the next trip . Uuggg

Recently went to Moab and on the way back we had a Pass side hub start smoking. Limped into town and greased it up. made it home fine. A good hub rebuild is on the list before the next camp out.

Sounds like a near miss. Any indication as to what caused the loss of grease? Bad seal maybe?

Here's hoping your spindle was not damaged.

Re: Modstocks (Utah teardrop)- Repairs

When I bought it, the pass side wheel had a bit of grease on it. I suspected he over greased it thru the zerk on the back.
One thing Ive learned .Don't paint your wheels black . Theres a reason they paint the wheels white.
A few months ago I swapped the spare to that side cause the tire had a slow leak. I should've known when the wheel stayed clean during the trip.
I am also hoping theres no damage to the spindle. I already put it in the corner of the shop for a few months but have taped a long list of shtuff to it. To do before it hits road again.

Picked up some new tires. Stepped up a size and gained more strength . Had 6 ply's and now 10 . No more killin tires on dirt roads. Tires are 2 inches bigger and also had to move up the fenders 2 " .
Image

Also replaced the broken taillight . They dont sell just the lens but the whole light was only 5 bucks.
Image

While getting the tires mounted an RV shop was next door. He gave me a little piece of trim to mock up for the bottom of the trailer.

Re: Modstocks (Utah teardrop)- Hatch rebuild

Time for this tear to get some attention. As in rebuilding attention . Since I didnt build this , its time to fix a few things.
Starting with the hatch.
Yea, this isnt right. Not my work in this pic.
Image

By, By, old hatch .
There were big gaps in the horizontal braces cause the wood was cut too short. Yes this thing flexed like a jeep .
Image

Once that was pulled off I cut down the walls 3/8" to make way for the new hatch .
Image

While building the new frame I noticed the aluminum above needed to be replaced because of all the screw holes. So that had to go.

Also had to ditch the lower aluminum to make modifications for the new skin here too.
Image

Hatch frame is built .
Image

New skin and Hurricane hinge mounted for mock-up .
Image

Testing up & down fitment . All good here. Barely any flex. Much better than the old hatch .
