OK since I started this project,I got the second set of cabinets out of the shop wed....The roof skin is on and time to move it back to the house garage to commence a 3rd set of cabinets, (which consist of kitchen-vanity's-and wet bar)....

You're doing a fabulous job! Your wood working is obviously fabulous, and you are working at a blistering pace!

... maybe you might want to think about changing your fenders. They just don't seem to fit the look quite right to my eye. Too much space around the tire and the outside shape is boxy and does not match the shape of the camper's profile. Not that they need to match, it's just that IMO... everything else on your build is coming along so swell, that, in my words and my opinion... even tho your fenders are expertly crafted... they just don't seem to match.

There. I said it. Sorry if this offends, but if you were already thinking the same thing yourself, and everyone else is just being polite... well, I felt obligated to say something.

I guess I wouldn't have said anything, but you have the skills, tools and ability, that I am sure if you agree with me, it will not take you much effort to make a change.

If you are pleased as punch about how it all is looking to you, then disregard this whole post, take no offense, and build on.

Yep you have been reading my mind...I have thought that since I put them darn things on.. They stick out too far also...Only a temporary screw holding each one on...And another thought they need to be tough enough to stand on as the tendency is tempting.....

Plus I originally intended to do trim the outside in cedar I've got to hide the splice in the 2 side panels....
Probably try some cardboard mock-up fenders and trim just to play around with...

I love building out of cardboard first...
As in the past with a small outboard boat modification of a Minimost...

Those look fine, but you will not be able to stand or set things on them. Also, they are molded to be a custom fit to a specific trailer, so you may have to do some adapting to mount them to your flat sides(?).

The fenders that I have picked for TPCE probably aren't going to look as nice as a contoured fender would, but they will have flat tops and will be fairly rugged.

With your skills, IMO you should make another pair and call the first set a learning experiment.

Now as for the door latches...My door seals will be on the interior door stop..

I need to mortise the door edge to flush mount the face plate, that leaves the possibility of water getting in behind the face plate...What to do about this?

WOW it has been a while since I've been on here! Well, I'm finally getting a break from the home builder and my cabinet shop will be Free to pull my trailer back into......Now if I can remember some of the ideas I had thought out but didn't put down on paper..

And I got distracted with what free time I did have and got into an age old hobby that pops up now and again over the years..Quite addicting actually if you were fortunate enough to grow up with it in the 60's.....I'm building this to set up in a commercial facility to perhaps take orders to build for peoples houses ....Got you wondering yet...

Ready to seal up the outside....I'm going with steel fenders so they go on later...
I wanted to trim this out in cedar but no...... I just added a trim pc. to the base to overlap the trailer frame...I wanted to bring the cedar color from the hatch area to the outside....


Using my airbrush, and water based stain, I started fogging on the lighter stain around the perimeter....

Then, with the darker color to resemble where the trim would have gone....



Still too much white wood so I misted on some more over the entire thing...My finger and hand is going numb. I should have used my small touch up gun.....




Ready for epoxy seal coat, I have about a gallon of resin and hardener left over from wood kayak building..And fiberglass cloth is not needed...The cloth is used in kayak building to give the unsupported deck and hull strength.....

You'r whole build came out beautiful. I think this is the closest to what I want to do that I have seen yet. I also have a taller fridge that I want to install so my rear height/curve will be very similar.

Do you have any more pictures of how you sealed the doors. I'm interested to see how and where you put the trim to keep the water out. And maybe a picture from the inside too?

I've bookmarked your build and will be looking at it many more times before I start. You certainly do beautiful work. I think you cheated a little since you have so much experience compared to the rest of us weekenders.
