Made a rack for the tongue, put a bunch of "necessities" on it and drove off.
Took her for a shake down run this weekend. Was fantastic! Towed great, followed me everywhere I went!

Do you know about how much it weighs now that it is finished and fully loaded?

With all my must have camping essentials, she weighed in at just over 1790. That's with 2 5 gallon jerry cans full on the front and 2 5 gallon water cans full in the back. I won't be carrying these full all the time, but for Utah I will be so I wanted to know.

Does anyone have an answer to how much distance/clearance is needed between frame and tire?
I was running 15 inch Jeep rims with 225/75/15 and had about 1 1/2 inches of clearance and on issues on trail. I just mounted 31x10.5 x 15 on the same Jeep rim and now have 1 inch of clearance.
Jeep rims have 5 1/4 backspacing so I can buy new rims with 4 1/4 backspacing pretty cheep, but don't wanna spend the $ if I don't need to.

What is th e greatest movement that you expect from the suspension.
Personally I'd add at least 1/2" to that specification.

You mean up and down movement? That's like 4 inches of travel. No way I need 4 1/2 of clearance! Maybe we are talking about 2 different measurements

I think your trailer looks cool! I have just started the design stages for mine and I was looking at doing a similar design to what you have. I am starting with the 5x8 frame as well, since the wheelbase tracks almost perfectly behind my 87 Wrangler.

I was wondering what you used for the aluminum trim around the outer dimension of the walls? Is that just a section of aluminum angle?

I wouldn't think that you need more than the 1" of clearance to the sidewall of the trailer, the suspension that you have cycles up and down, it doesn't have much for a side-to-side movement due to the leaf springs. If you were to run a low pressure in your tires, then I could see the sidewalls getting close. Or if the tires got into sticky mud, its possible to get a build up in there with the minimal clearance.

My trailer build is going to be riding on 33x12.5x15's that were previously on the Jeep but were replaced by 35's. And ultimately saved for the trailer. I have been looking for the wheels to match my clearance issues.

Thx alot! It's just 3/4 angle I got from mc master carr.
Found some cheapo 15" rims on 4 wheel parts for 40 bucks each and 3.75 backspace so that buys me at least 1 inch more of clearance so about 2 inches total so problem solved!
