When I first saw the "smile", I thought, "Chevy". If you go with that, you'd almost have to get a Chevy Nomad TV. But, what Jeremy dreamed up looks like a really good idea. I like the side design. And, yes, a photo album will be almost mandatory! :applause:

Thanks for the feedback Danny....I thought it looked too much like a smile but thought I'd see what people thought....The jury is still out on that one. If I come up with something else...it's gone. Doug

... and the license plate is the nose, and the windows are sunglass covered eyes.

Of course, it may look less like a smile when it is a solid area of paint, instead of a hollow taped area. The tape does tend to give the shape "lips."

I made 15 copies of the side profile and went at it with some colored pencils and came up with a whole new look on the side. I decided that the "wing" look is too old and I wanted a more early 60's look on it. It's just one simple 4 sided geometric shape...Now to rework the rear end and front. Doug

I tend to like a simple two-tone. If it was mine, I'd do blue on the bottom, and white on the top.

But, it is not mine, and a wise man once said, "Build what you want....no one has to camp in it but you!"

I don't recall who said that, but I remember him to be very smart -- and a pretty good looking dude, as well.

I spent a fair amount of time cruising the Atlas Mobile Home Museum site looking at everything from '55-'65 in both the photos and the advertising materials for design ideas. My favorite was the 55 Nashua...had a pic of a mobile home overlain on a black and white photo of an atomic blast, complete with mushroom cloud and the copy read "bigger than the H bomb...followed by Nashua BLASTS the lid off deals".....Ahhhh, a different time, reminds me of the "duck and cover" drills in grade school or my all time favorite...the radiated seeds that I bought as a kid to grow large veggies....

Anyhoo.....the design on trailer graphics really took a turn once we entered the atomic space age/race. I think my original "wing" type thing is too outdated for the early 60's so am going to go with this one. It still needs to be fine tuned, but I think this is the idea I'm going to go with. It will be shot in teal like the wheels and pinstriped with black, with a small Sierra Nomad copy in white on the teal. Tongue gets the same teal color as well. Doug

PS...had to pop some staples on the front...had a pucker that needed to be taken care of.

Couple of stars and a planet (or that mushroom cloud...) on the side to go with the "modern" ('60s) wing shape (rather than the '50s "chieftain" wing shape), sort of Jetsons style? Something to tie in the clock?

Yep, that's what I was thinking. Something is just not right about the side graphic. Maybe move the whole graphic back about 6 to 8 inches. Maybe the upper line should be parallel to the ground.

Here's a couple of pics just for the hell of it.

John, My "brand" name badging has the Jetsons look to it, not installed yet. I'm gonna do crisp clean straight lines for the paint job. It may not be what some may think ought to be done, but sometimes, you just gotta go with what the era dictates. Bold, straight, streamlined lines that hinted at speed and direction were what was done on many vehicle trailer, product designs at that time. I'm thinking it will all work out in the end...ya just gotta have some faith in it...and like I mentioned....it needs some fine tuning...it ain't set in stone yet. ;) Doug

How did your sea monkeys turn out?

And, if you want a sixties look, here is an alternative.

Only Doug has to camp in it, but we all might have (or should I say "get") to camp next to it... Which if Doug goes for the grass rather than the trees at IRG, that will be me camped next to it.

But camping next to Doug isn't so bad, his mastery of craftsmanship and design is surpassed only by his Dutch oven wizardry. So put on you knee waders, it's getting deep...
