Ahh?, yours is anodized. If it's anodized I think it's categorized as 5005-H34, not 2024.

The four number designation is a standard given to the alloy. Each number helps identify the properties of the metal.

NON-HEAT-TREATABLE (COMMON) ALLOYS

1100
This is commercially pure aluminum (99% minimum). It has excellent corrosion resistance, weldability, and workability, as well as high thermal conductivity.

5005
This alloy is very similar in properties to 1100 and 3003, and is preferred where anodizing is required. All of ASCO's pre-finished anodized sheets are 5005-H34. It matches architectural alloy 6063 when anodized.

(There are many other variations in this category)

HEAT-TREATABLE (STRONG) ALLOYS

2024
While limited in formability and workability, this alloy has high tensile strength – in the 30 to 63 KSI range. It is used in high-strength structural and aircraft applications.

(There are many other variations in this category)

...

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks for the reply. Where did you buy it from? Not the exact location, but what type of store?

I live in New Orleans, and can't find anything.

Hi 225, I could not find a supplier near me either. I bought my aluminum through Grant Whipp at Lil Bear Tag a Longs in Redding California. He's a gem of a guy and might be able to point you in the right direction. Good hunting.

Hey 225,

I picked up my Aluminum at a metal supply yard. I googled "sheet metal supply" and "sheet metal" in New Orleans:

https://www.google.com/search?q=Sheet+Metal+supply+New+Orleans&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

https://www.google.com/search?q=Sheet+Metal%2C+New+Orleans&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

Try calling those guys listed in the search results. If they don't have it, they can point you to someone who does.

Best of luck,
Ted

Hi Everyone,

We fixed a few things this weekend. The doors needed another 1/8" spacer on the wall side of the hinges for the seal to seat correctly. Once those were in place the doors sealed nice and tight. I made the offset blocks for the interior handle/latches and installed them. With the cabin sealing, we felt it was time to put the mattress inside! We got to finally close the doors and lie down on our new bed, what a nice milestone!

Image
Here a shot of the driver's side all closed up.

Image
With the door open you can see how the 'D' rubber seal fits into the 'T' molding.

Image
First look at the almost finished interior. We still have to install the curtains, make then install the door skirts and trim off the long tails of the exterior door handles flush with the interior latches.

Image
Here's how the aft area is shaping up. I found some 1/2" vinyl closed cell weather seal at Ace Hardware for the inner door seal. We'll install that on Wednesday.

All the best,

Dave

Looks nice  .
To avoid personal injury, you might want to consider cutting off the Door lock square shaft sticking into the cabin space.

Thank you Danny, Those shafts are on the Wednesday to-do list for sure (with a little varnish to seal the cut-off end). :)

Hi Sharon, Good to hear from you! The curtains and sheets are sewn and ready. The blankets and comforter might fit without further adjusting (I hope). We have a couple of foam back pillows and that's about it until we actually camp in her.

Yep, down to final trim and installations...man, it has been two years. :o It's amazing how long it takes to fit each piece of trim and such. We'll be ready for spring for sure this time.
