Thanks Tom! I posted that pic of the chains for you since I saw in my own research today you had the same question! What a simple solution.

Royal Teadrop Society Captain "2bits" Thomas

I am not trying to keep my build at the top of the board honest! It's just been productive for me :R

(We believe you. Even so, this thread deserves to be stickied.)

Finally! The momentum I've been waiting for... the final push. And, dang! Thomas! the teardrop looks fantastic.

If I may make one suggestion, though... I don't know what kind of hitch is on your truck, but if it's a slider in a receiver, then another two-inch drop at he ball (with another slider) will have the teardrop riding completely level, if not a tiny bit nose-down which should aid trailer stability a bunch. It'd look even meaner, too.

Git R done! :applause:

"Royal Teardrop Society"???? WOW! !

Well Chris you are certainly the post-man! How come you have more posts then me and no teardrop? I know you got the love man! ! !

Yeah I know about the receiver, it is definitely on "the list" that was like on pg 18 right! LOL... At least I will get less acid reflux while I sleep if I leave it hooked to the truck! Sadly I am having to sell my truck to pay the mortgage so I will be towing with my Town Car in the near future which ain't so bad actually ;) So I am waiting to see how it sits then.

RTS Cap'n Thomas... you like that? Hee. I called Mike Schn the RTS Admiral. :dancing

The hitch height... Ahh... yes. Page 18. I read that in late April or early May...

How come you have more posts then me and no teardrop? I know you got the love man! ! !

Well, yes; I have the fever... but I've also been hanging out in one of the two banter threads here, with people with postcounts in the ten- and twenty-thousand range. I'm a piker... hahaha...

I daresay you'll be even more outstanding-from-the-crowd when you tow your gorgeous teardrop w/ a Lincoln Town Car. Now THAT's stylish!

:D 8)

I'm eager to see more pics!

Thank you Sharon! The name change was a long time coming for me. I finally decided I would make The Woodyard for the build and the Vagabond King for when it was done enough to say I "built" that, instead of I am "building" that. It is interesting when I heard people changing how they described it too. I am a big fan if the Gypsy Kings, and my old band had a song called Suicide King, and I used to have a Monte Carlo named The King which all inspired the King, and I thought about Gypsy, Vagabond, Nomad, Bohemian, and Wanderlust (without the King), but Vagabond won, plus it was an RV manufacturer back in the day.

But back to progress! I FINALLY got the curtains done! ! ! I decided to use some aluminum C channel to hole in the rods, but then realized (in my sleep of all places) that the curtain would be too close to the wall. Well, I was not feeling too keen on cutting, sanding, staining eight little pieces so I got lucky and found some strips of "bloodwood" my friend gave me, it is dark all the way through. They were already cut to width and depth, I just cut the 45' angle and a light sanding and they were ready to go as a spacer. It is a very basic way to hold in a wooden dowel as a curtain rod, but I actually think it looks pretty cool.

i like how you did your curtains!

and as promised, i took some pics of drawers i've built:

i like building drawers out of 1/2 ply because it's stable and will not warp over time. i build a simple box, glued and brad nailed, with a dado cut about 1/4" from the lower edge to hold the drawer bottom. i then trim the front to give it some style.

Image

bottom:
Image

for drawer runners i can usually get by using scraps. for the TD i used 1/4" ply, glued to a 1x3, which is glued square to the face frame and counter top. i waxed the edges so the drawer can glide smoothly.
Image

a few years ago i built cabinets for my home's kitchen. i did the drawer runners a little different here. i used a single drawer support along the center.
Image

then on the rear of the drawer i attached a guide that i cut out of 1/2" ply. please excuse the messy candy drawer.
Image

so, that's it. i like keeping things simple. :)

Wow Burke, No pressure there eh! I already regret having to sell the truck, the key word being "having". I've been down this road plenty of times before, and I am ready for something new anyway, I have my eye in a 74 Chevy 4x4 that I hope I can get and still get my bills caught up.

I appreciate you posting your drawers too, that look looks great for what I want to do! I hadn't thought about old school sliders too so I will give that some thought and save myself the $20 on the metal ones!

In the meantime, I completely wiped down the galley and interior top to bottom, getting rid of as much sawdust as possible, and then I wrangled the mattress in and put the trimmings on! Looks pretty homey! Sure is gonna look nice for it's first outing this afternoon! I plan on getting a pillow case or a different pillow of the same style, and a different blanket, but if the same knit, with a design more fitting.

Sweet!

Have fun today, Thomas. I wish I was within an hour's drive...

Nice drawers on the Swo0p, g.e.d.! Like the galley cabinet finish, too.

(Sorry for the threadjack, Thomas...)

Sorry not meant to be pressure, just looking forward to seeing you be able to enjoy all your hard work.

Yeah fair enough - it's easy for me to sit back and say things without having to deal with the situation you are addressing. I just miss my '68 (totaled) and doubt I'll ever get a chance to replace it - for a reasonable price.

Pillows with Eddie's face on them too would be cool. Enjoy the 1st run!
