forgot what joy this job brings !
The weather is improving here too, to bad
I will be under my pick up removing the trany.

The roswell is looking better and better. It always looked good, so improving it should be tough.

Thanks again for the kind comments.

its rained so the "camp in / work on" weekend didnt happen for me.

hope to be on it again soon.

Jackdaw........
with the polishing, i smear a little compound on the mop,
then rub the mop on the area to be polished,
then start the machine & polish away.
(not too much rpm or pressure)

the sponge mops tend to fall apart & are really ment for finishing off
so i just used the lambswool mop.
Rigsby's tip of doing the last bit by hand works great.
have a feeling the windows will be popping out for this.

has anyone sucsessfully lackered polished ali with it lasting more than
a couple of years ?
(dont want to be doing this too often if i can avoid it)
best rgds dan.

Unfortunately the short answer is no.

Pop over to the airstream forum
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f441/ or
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f474/
for indepth info about this topic.

You can lengthen the life of your polished shine by washing and waxing every 30 days or so. More often if you are near saltwater. Automotive clearcoat won't stick to the polished aluminum surface. You can buy the finish used on the new airstreams (Plasticoat) directly from a dealer - it's a two part mixture, but I believe it's "lifespan" is only about 5-6 years on a properly prepared surface.

Your trailer looks awesome by the way! :D

Hello Jackdaw,
good to hear u r getting on well.
Not long now till the bash!
it's been a bit full on with just about
everything but the Roswell.

But I have the whole of this week off
& guess what's top of the list ?
Putting the Citroen in on tues for the
tow-bar fitting.
Would do it myself but it's a bit involved
looking at the instructions & I'm no spark.
(new too & out of warrenty the moment
I start that sort of work on it)

Will post piccies as I go.
Rgds dan.

I would love to see some pictures of this out in a park. Lots of green around it. Maybe in a pasture making its own crop circle. :)

What a fantastic creation! Quite the accessory for spooky campfire stories and morning shaves...think you've covered all the bases with this one. Hats off!
