Sorry I haven't been around much....had to put the Tear on hold for a few month to prepare the house for sale....

Anyway, I've been really fibreglassing like crazy and have the walls and bottom in a few coats and will be posting photos soon.

BTW, I used Polyester Resin (not Epoxy) and a combination of Chopped Mat and fine cloth...I may talk myself into gelcoat, more on that later.

Photos soon.

I finally got the sides on and totally fibreglassed the sides and bottom. I put Rustoleum (roll-on) truckbed liner paint on the bottom (over the fibreglass) and bolted it to the trailer.

Also got a new tow vehicle (1999 Chevrolet Tracker 2door, 4x4).

Looking Good...

Hello Das Bald Guy: You look as if you are moving right along. The TD is looking very nice. I used to live in Ohio and I know about the amount of rain that might come down at any one given time, not to mention if you are going down the freeway how much of that water is thrown up onto your teardrop. It is good you are water-proofing it as well as you can. This will make it stay dry and last you a long time. Nice Tracker you picked up. It looks very clean.

For what it is worth, I do see one small thing you might need to address. Your rear spring mount is placed too far back and it has the shackles facing forward. The shackles need to be facing rear so the spring can cycle as you go down the road. The way they are now does not let the spring do it's job correctly. It might bind the spring and it will cause a very rough ride to the TD, like it has no springs at all. All you need to do is place new rear spring mounts right in front of the existing ones and I think this will solve the problem. The shackles need to be facing the rear about as much as they are facing the front now. This way the springs will work as designed and they will never bind up. This will make to ride much better than it might be now. I am only adding my two cents worth for your benefit. I was told that the rear upper mount bolt should be at least 1/2" to 1" ahead of the bolt going through the rear of the spring. You can go to a trailer sales place and ask if this is a problem. On my two single axle trailers they face the rear.

Keep going on your build. It is getting there...

Looks like a nice, neat, lightweight trailer in the makings! I like your trailer's wheels, too.

By the way, if you're trying to decide between tow vehicles, I think the red one will suffice. :D :D

Thanks! I love that thing...it was a 4 year project on it's own...1.8 litre turbo, all engine bits powdercoated....all custom. 99% of people have no idea what it is....most think it is a Rabbit. ;-)

That's a nice Fox wagon that's been converted to a pickup.

Do you have a build thread on that? I'm a VW guy myself and that's pretty cool.

If you keep the tear below 1000 lbs, the Fox will tow it with no issues. Get rid of that horrible 4x4 thing you bought, what an ugly lump compared to the Fox. Chevy/Geo/Suzuki thing is icky.

Well my host screwed up the DNS and all these images aren't showing up, but I have been told it will be fixed later today, so hopefully all my images will be back.

Anyway, I ordered a Fantastic Fan and am going to hopefully finish my roof soon. I want to get Moby campable by late Spring so I can use it this summer/fall.

More updates to come....

I definitely like the profile, mine is going to be that same profile.

I think it is a Cuby style Profile. Basically, I took the aspects of profiles that I liked (and that would fit on one 4x8 sheet of ply) and made that profile.

I used a 2' radius at the top corner to make the front which means I have 2' straight front and another 2' straight roof top.

Then from the back edge of the 2' roof, is where the arch starts down to the 8' bottom.

pretty easy
