The only ones I know of that might work are early Corvette hinges?
But, I still think something like the hotrod trunk hinges a number of companies make are the best answer:

Corvette hinges will that make my trailer faster?   Will make a version of whats in the pic, just not quite as pretty. Yes I did make a model today (scrap wood, not cardboard), and I think it will work.

What might also be cool, is to put the hinge at the top and mount gas shocks on each side.........Easy lift.......

I studied this pic.
Image
The hook at the end needs to hook the distance of the interior brace. The shape of the curve is determined by the distance between the pin and the edge of the body, This means it sticks in the same distance, as it is long. Here is my model.
Image
I made it out of scrap wood, and the hook is not fully developed. The welding of the hinge will be another day, but I believe I have found the solution, thanks folks.

I cut the four ribs Holding the hatch closed.

It will open farther, but I was to lazy to find a longer prop. The blue strap is now removed, should have removed it for the pic.

Lifting it is simple enough, but now go inside and pull it closed (note my trailer is taller than a standard tear).

I put sealer in the body mount bolts, and installed jam nuts. Later I realized how far the bolts sucked into the wood. Should I be concerned?

Fiberglass Supplies & Such

Postby Randy S. Hager » Sun Oct 28, 2007 11:51 pm

Dell:
Order a couple of catalogs. Order Wicks Aircraft Supply in Ill. and from Aircraft Spruce in Cal. You’ll find tapes that are already on a bias call Biax tapes. Also get the Peel Ply to go along the edges to blend the tapes in. (feather edged) This is how they do it on the fiberglass homebuilt airplanes. You will be surprised at how the edges disappear.

Thanks, your trailer looks good too. Having three helpers is cheating    , I can imagine the building experience, when a whole family is involved, produced more than just a trailer, memories.
