Are you planning to use cloth or mat for the wheel wells?
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

Just cloth Tony...it's what I've got left over from the boat. I don't do any off road travel, just limited gravel road travel with my trailers. I've got plenty of clearance and if the wheel gets into it, I've got bigger problems than just the wheel well. They're in 1/4" ply with 3/4" sq. backing at all the joints and epoxy as the adhesive. For grins...after they're cured...I'll go stand on one. Doug

a lot of this stuff takes time especially when I don't have any specific plans and cook it up as I go. I gotta think a couple of steps ahead so I don't end up boxing myself into a situation I can't get out of.

doug hodder wrote:I got all the Marmoleum cut and fit up so it's ready to install, (only partially shown), got all the aluminum trim and cove molding for the drop floor cut and fit up. This type of flooring isn't inexpensive, but it's not uncommon to find it in original trailers and in good shape after more than 50+ years. It's almost 3/32" thick and won't tend to tear the top like a typical vinyl flooring as the color goes completely through.

It is also made of all-natural materials. It is a "green" material that is also safer for use in enclosed spaces.

Doug great color for the marmoleum. Where's a good place to get this from? Also do you think this could be used for a counter top or table top?

Marmoleum is the brand name of linoleum flooring from Forbo:

http://www.forboflooringna.com/ModuleFiles/mod_quick_download/197/FileName/marm_color_collection.pdf

I have never installed it, but have seen it installed "on the tube." The sheet is cut with a utility knife and the flooring is adhered with mastic using a notched trowel.

Chances are, your grandmother had it in her kitchen. Mine did. Of course it was called linoleum back then.

Hey Doug,

Will your new creation be similar to the Nomad trailer I am thinking of?

You can get Marmoleum from most floring stores (not the big box stores). It is a flooring that has been around for over 100 years. It is also a very eco-friendly product. Retail prices can run $3.33 to $4.44 a square foot.

Yes you can use it for countertops if you want. It not a hard surface like formica. It was used years ago on writing desks. You would need to use a "L" shaped countertop edge that over laps the marmoleum to prevent the edges from curling of getting damages.

If you have alergies, this is a great product. I have it in my utility room and I just bought 2 more pices to install in the bathrooms.

I doubt it Cliff....it's a morphed Scotty, much too short to do what you are thinking of...and while the flooring may be "green" the real "green" impact occurs when you have to dish it out to get the stuff. It's the look and color I wanted and paid for it. I would have gotten it in vinyl if it were available and I'd think most others would too. 6 yards was roughly the price of a HF frame.

I've found that you're better off to do it the way you want from the get go rather than to look back and say: Boy I wish I would have done it this way or that. At that point, all you've done is create more work for yourself and waste money if you want to change it.

That's the way I approached my build. Nice work Doug.

I got the flooring all installed and trimmed out in aluminum. Both sides have the cabinetry/ tops made, sink and pump cutouts in. Not all the drawer slots are cut yet. The larger cabinet will have cabinet doors on the bottom right side with a slide out for a cooler, and a drawer above it. I left enough room to install a cooktop, probably won't install one right now, but there will be room to install one in the future. Where the flooring ends, a bulkhead with 2 drawers will be built. The bed will extend out that far. Doesn't look like much, but I've only had like 2 days in the last couple of weeks to work on it.
