Temporarily placed a 1/2" sheet of plywood to use as a sidewall template.

Image

Now to transfer my measurements to the template.

Knowing that mistakes ARE very possible, I've got a few of these 1/2" boards left over from last years Hurricane preparedness.

After much figuring, I managed to shape the profile I was looking for.:D

Now to transfer this to the permanent sidewalls, but not today.
Have to install Stop/Taillights and light wiring. Then make an appointment with State Police for a look-over and a VIN.

Later,

Mike,

:applause:  :applause: Your frame looks super. So does your profile. I'm thinking about those wheels for my build.

Thanks, Tom.

Below is a link to the wheels I purchased.

If you do buy these, when they arrive, check the hub caps good. The first set I received had slight dents in them. I called Jeg's about it and they sent out another set, no questions asked.

Have a nice day,
Mike

Thanks, Chip.

No, it's not my first time welding. Although welding is one of the requirements of one in my profession. I have fabricated all sorts of things in the past, from BBQ pits, wrought iron fences, to specialty tools, but this is my first trailer chassis(start-to-finish).
The thing I like best about this project is I'm taking my time with it. I have learned to slow down and enjoy what I'm doing(in my old age).

Hey Thomas.

Need fenders? I bought mine HERE. 10.75" X 32". Cost was $64.96 shipped to my door. I shopped trailer suppliers in my area, no one stocks the 10.75" width.

If you can use 9" wide, Triple S Steel Supply,in Houston, carries fenders also.

Wow!!! That was easy. :o

I mounted temporary stop/tail lights on the chassis and drug it to the local State Police office 'bout 10 miles down the road.

Although I kept all my receipts, which was stated on the DPS web site (metal, coupler, spindles, hub, wheels, springs and so on), they only wanted to see proof of purchase for the axle.

An inmate(trustee) then walked over to my trailer and stamped a VIN on the tongue.
With the VIN paperwork in-hand, I drove to DMV for registration and four year license plate($71.50).

Now that that's done, I can start on the cabin. :)

The weather finally straightened up and I got a chance to work on the TD during this past week, and today.

Cut out the two sidewalls using the template. Framed the outer edges.

Installed the two sideswalls.

Framed up for the ceiling vent.
3/4" X 1-1/2" spars, doubled-up in this area.

In other news, Oct 25th was Pat's birthday. She's been wanting an Adirondack Chair for some time. While time off from work, I built one for her using 3/4" Cedar.
She likes the natural look, so I'll just use a clear sealer on it. I've still got to build another chair and a small table to set in-between.

Hopefully, the weather will hold out for a while tomorrow, so I can get a bit more done.
