so I see that its a little crowded now but what is the eventual plan for the box on the back  I like the creative idea of having a trunk on the back of your pirate vardo  now you were saying something about corbels???? any idea as to what  really like the colors you chose

Corbels, well haven put much thought into them at the moment. I did see some wrough iron ones on ebay that got a "maybe"
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Cast-Iron-MED ... 9030725311

there interesting, and can be painted.

For the back, I was thinking of getting something like this http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-3-D ... te/8282897

I like the idea its removeable, and should keep the contents clean. Store paperplates/utensils/spices etc in it, I do need a table to fit in there, add a paper towel holder too! Im going to mount an ac unit in it that would be removeable for dry camping. Im thinking of adding ductwork to it and running it into the cabin.

I think Im gonna change the bed to go across the width, when the mattress is folded out it takes up most of the floor space and a little storage under the mattress would be handy, specially with winter blankets. It would also give room for a heater of some sorts. it was in the mid 30's friday night and was a bit cold inside the vardo without heat lol. Image I do need to notch the back trim piece for the 2 purlins, then varnish it... and make trim for the windows... never ends lol

It was nice camping in it this weekend, so beats out the tents my friends slept in lol... and had most of the people there wanting to look inside. The most common complaint was fear of claustraphobia, I told them I dont even notice it... My friends 3yo son loved it since he could stand up... he spent most of this afternoon playing in there lol.

Looks great Deryk! Wish I could have been camping this past weekend... the weather was so nice! Might be getting out this weekend, but my teardrop is far from ready, so I'll be roughing it with my friends.

Totally cool. Thanks for posting a picture with you and your friends inside. It gives me a better perspective of it's size. It's not as large as I was thinking. The problem is that I have to make up my mind what I,m going to build. That is soooo nice! 8)
Great job!

Thanks! Yeah frank, its not huge inside but workable. its about 71" wide inside by about 92" long. When I do the bed sideways I will have about 36" between it and the door when its opened up and about 4.5 feet when its folded like a couch. I just ordered my mini pot belly stove, can't wait to paint it and install it !

Yeah comin up with a design is important...if I did it again id go 10 feet long with door on the back and a tongue box...mebbe 3 inches wider lol

Thanks...Ive definatly been haveing fun lol. Doubt Im gonna get much done this weekend, have to help a friend move (bleh) Might be able to get the last board for the deck cut then trim it so I can make a tighter turn lol. Next weekend after thanksgiving I hope to get the bedframe done, prepping to install the mini pot belly stove...once its cleaned and painted!

Im thinkin double wall flue so I can get it closer to the corner. Any opinion on 3 feet of flue pipe inside and a cap on top bein tall enough?

Well, got the last board on my deck cut and dadoed out and it cut into its shape. My friend Conner wanted to cut it cause I was gonna be spendin the rest of the afternoon cuttin his front lawn lol...Image Image Image

Oooooommmmmmm!Image

Well I packed up my lil vardo and brought her home with me tonight, my friend is travelin to spend Thanksgiving with his lady friend, and even though I am welcome to work in his shop, this coming weekends project is my bedframe for the mattress to go sideways and install the air conditioner (gettin too chilly for that but clearin out the cabin might as well get it installed!) And I have to tools to do it, and wouldnt mind hangin local for a long weekend.

Thanks! its comin together, hopefully I can get a bunch of work done this weekend. Heat is going to become important real soon, so moveing the bed sideways will give me the room for it.

Im thinking this winter, about building a black walnut chest that could double as a bench, maybe 15" tall just enough to sit on and have head clearance, and be able to tuck some clothes in for easy access. My friend Conner has stacks of boards in his back yard from a tree he took down a few years back. Plane it, build it and sand the sh** out of it. Would be a nice project to do while hanging out, and Im eager to learn more carpentry skills, and he's happy because it motivates him to keep workin a little every day.
