Not this year. Our friends kay and grant are. Someday, maybe the next one if we are retired by then! This summer is already full.

Re: Lance and Becky's Sagwagon = Our Mattress Arrived

Postby Oldragbaggers » Tue Mar 12, 2013 5:34 pm

Our full sized mattress arrived today (yipeee). When I saw the box I thought they must have accidently sent the crib size. It was so small. Inside the box was this hard solid lump wrapped in what seemed to be a mile of saran wrap. After I got all that wrap off and got to the bag that it was vacuum sealed in and punched that first hole in the bag, KABOOM, it blew up into a big person mattress in a hot second. Pretty funny.

Anyway, we got the 5" Super Soft from the Foam Factory. It's pretty soft and cushy, probably too much so for some people, but I love it. Very comfortable. I'll be sleeping like a baby princess out there.
:goodnight:
Only $87.99, and with free shipping that makes it $30 cheaper than the 4" memory foam mattress from WalMart. I'm sure it's every bit as soft and we won't have to worry about it getting hard in cold weather.

Unless I missed it, link to the mattress you bought?
I'm tossing the full sized futon mattress into mine for now but a link to an inexpensive option would be awesome!

Not bad but cover is extra by quite a bit.
Unless you have your own cover, it's another $45 to get one from them.

Still, foam mattress alone, as long as you have a cover of your own to use, is quite reasonable.

I'm spending about that same amount for a cover, but I am making my own from a very nice quilted fabric. I am sure it will be much better quality and more durable than what they are selling for the same price, and I get to pick exactly what I want.

Another internet find last week netted me a 3/4 size mattress from Overstock.com... A 3/4 bed mattress is 48"W x 75" L... fits perfectly in a narrow TD (4'). I looked at the futon mattress and even the momory foam mattress too but I like the idea of a 6" mattress for comfort. After all, comfort is why we're building a TD right? if not, we'd all be sleeping in tents! :)

Lance and Becky's Sagwagon - Decor

Postby Oldragbaggers » Sun Mar 17, 2013 12:13 am

I have been having a hard time finding fabrics I like to go with my bicycling theme. Most of them are either too busy, too juvenile, or I don't like the colors. So I decided to try my hand at fabric stenciling to do my own designs. I really don't need a lot, just a few subtle touches here and there. This is my first attempt at an accent pillow cover. The designs were cut out of freezer paper using an exacto knife. Paint was applied with a chunk of foam rubber.

Maybe a little more practice.

Looks good to me. A very nice touch. What paint did you use, fabric paint?

Thanks all!! Pete, I used Soft fabric paint by Tulip. You can get it at Michael's or Joann's.
