Building "the Beach House"

Postby meworrynot » Sun Sep 18, 2011 2:49 pm

Here Goes! I have started building a 13' travel trailer. It has a full bathroom, slide out rear kitchen that faces forward when open, and I will build a home made awning. At this point, I have a frame that was a 60's to 70's era camper, I have built the main box, 7' wide by 6'3"tall by 11' 8" long. The kitchen will be added on to the back, and will make the trailer 2' longer.
I will try to make an album, have many pictures.

Looking good. We have friends that live in Portland and go to Corpus pretty often. If you don't mind, maybe we can meet up. I would love to look at what you've done. I was thinking about building a TTT but built a TD instead. I can't wait to see your progress.

Thank you. We could meet up anytime, would be my pleasure. I've been pokin' at it alittle less the last couple of days, messed up my knee putting the roof on. Will update pictures tomorrow.

Yes sir, will be adding a 3500 lb drop axle and thinking 14 or 15 inch tires. Was going to be a flat hovercraft trailer, but hover gone and wanted a camper.

Here are some new pictures. I have installed 2 windows, a baggage door and started some of the interior cabinets and dividing walls. Progress is slow as I am limited to "extra money" which is hard to find, but can be done...

That's great! The little wheels are awesome! Cover up the wheel well and tell everyone that your trailer is a hovercraft.

I haven't done much in the past year. I installed the roof sheeting and insulation, have the door, picked up a used awning for free, and put siding on the back. I am considering turning it into a toy hauler for my scooter, or building a rack on the rear for it, just thinking it will be alot of work making a ramp door and moving windows and the door around at this point...

keep chuggin along as ya can, we all know life gets in the way sometimes lol... but looking real good. I agree redoing the back would be a project. What about welding a receiver on the back of it and add the foldup style http://www.spinlife.com/Fold-A-Ramp-FAR-300-Scooter-and-Power-Chair-Carrier-Outside-Manual-Vehicle-Lift/spec.cfm?productID=92366

I've started to get serious again. I have all the siding installed, the door is installed, and working on the windows. I still have not bought the bigger tires, but will do soon. I have started working at a local RV dealership as the "Parts Man" and am enjoying all the fellow Campers I meet. Being as I am a parts guy, I now have access to all the parts I could ever dream of.... I will post some new pictures this weekend.
