boxkite now going on 6 years.

Postby Ron Dickey » Mon Jan 07, 2013 1:07 am

It took me 5 years to build it. I had very little help and had never taken on something so big.

I had several entries Phases as I called them. I am beginning to think of doing a new build but my wife says I am not done with this one.
I have pulled it to New Mexico and back, once to the dam run and twice to IRG and plan to next time too, I have also gone to the below Riverside, ca near mountain Center. Camped in Owens Valley and camped in our local area San Luis Obispo county - slo gatherings organized by a man who wanted to build one but needed to see them first. He started his build but has lost interest. We like to camp at KOA so we can get a hot shower & Clean Restroom some offer good deals on food, or are close to where we want to be.
we have stayed at in AZ Holbrook / Petrified Forest KOA, Kingman KOA, In California: Barstow / Calico KOA, Lake Isabella / Kern River KOA, Ventura Ranch KOA (above Santa Paula), Salinas / Monterey KOA (Prundale), and Sacramento River / Delta KOA (in Isleton). We plan to stay at Petaluma and Santa Cruze, Eureka, and Medford, OR in the future. http://koa.com/find-a-koa/
Some are fun some are just a place to sleep and move on.

We hope to go to many other gatherings in the future. But I have some major repairs needed to the trailer before I can go any where. Right wheel is bent only inside tread is worn, I need new and better suspension in the Phase II below you will see my frame and under stand why I need better suspension.
In time I will get a new puller the tung drags up some driveways and I need a puller that is higher off the ground (now pulling with a 2001 Carolla) So a wagon or something like a CRV will work.
