1947 Tourette Teardrop Rebuild

Postby burlesot » Sun Mar 31, 2013 9:53 pm

All,
Thank you so much for allowing me to lurk and ask dumb questions over the past year. I wanted to let you all know that I have the Tourette home and have been working non-stop on my vacation to get her water tight. I've been keeping a blog of my progress, from before I even purchased her, until today. If you are interested in following, you can do so here: http://toddsteardropblog.blogspot.com/

Because you all have been so helpful to me, and on the off chance that something I say or do might be helpful to others along the way, I'll try to post here as well.

After a spring break trip to TN and a week of cleaning, cleaning, and fabricating, it looks like she's nearly water tight. I'll try my best to get some work time in this week after work, but can't wait for the weekend to come!

I found this very helpful. It is a 'Basic' Description of electrical systems.

I've got the '47 Tourette almost back to her original glory! I've decided to order some windows to replace the 'hatch' that was part of the original design. This will let some light in and brighten the cabin up a bit. The biggest accomplishment over the weekend was the demolition of the old galley. I took all the original cabinetry out and am working on some designs of my own for the galley. You can read more about the progress here: http://toddsteardropblog.blogspot.com/2 ... ed-up.html

Thanks,
Todd

I added direct links to each of the items that I could find them for. Thanks for asking.

I bought 2 of the same lights for my trailer galley. They seem to work well but they aren't the brightest. I took them apart and they run off a standard size led strip which you can buy on the same website. If I need to (or get bored later) I might try to upgrade them in the future.

Thanks! She's a handful alright. She's still a puppy and full of energy! Should be fun sharing my teardrop with her and my girlfriend, haha.

On another note: Todd, how did you make the SketchUp video? I'm fairly proficient but I'm not sure I have ever run into that feature.

Making animations in Sketchup is super easy. Here is a video that goes into specifics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCNGQX6j7D4
Isn't it amazing how cool this is?

Just when I think I have the SketchUp thing down I keep finding some other feature to play around with! This is very cool indeed! Also I had no idea about that you could so easily change the styles.

Thanks for the heads up and sorry for hijacking your build thread! 8)
