Simple Convertible Harbor Freight Teardrop

Hey all,
So I desided I have done enogh work to constitue starting a build thread. I began this project by picking up a 1720# trailer for sale at harbor freight. It spent almost a month in the box till i had some time to assemble it. Before assemingling though i laid it all out and measured every inch of it. From there i drew it up in sketchup showing every bolt hole on the frame. It can be seen and downloaded here viewtopic.php?f=62&t=55053

After documenting the frame, i gave everything a single coat of rustolim hammered paint. Ill do another coat later on with it assembled. With it assembled i began laying out a design. I wanted to do a cheap build as i still need to finish work on my hotrod so i didnt want to dump alot of money into it right away. So i basicly wanted to make a simple trailer, no galley, convertible, and fit a double bed. To keep it cheap ill probably do my own doors, and everything with exception to the floor will be 4'x8'.

Because this build is going to be about 56" wide, getting vinly from jo ann and doing the convertible top myself wont be possible as they only sell it in 54" width. So i contacted a local boat cover company and they gave me a reasonable quote on a top with waterproof canvas and twist snaps. To widen the frame i picked up some 4X4's, recessed the bolts and attached those to the side of the frame. With 4X4's it will give me enough width for a 54" bed and a 1/2" on either side.

This is where im currently at. I plan on doing something every weekend but not spending alot of money each time. Next weekend will probably be the floor. I plan on attaching the floor to the 4x4's around the perimeter with a 2X4 in the front and back. THis will make a subframe that can be lifted off and coated for water resistance. Then the sides can be made.

Here is a picture of the 4x4 used to make the floor wider.

One thing I am undecided on is cutting off the back of the frame. Because i want to keep the curve in the front of my design yet i dont want to add length since the sides will be 4x8, im not sure if i want to keep the frame on there as a ledge for coolers or a bin, or lop it off to clean up the back.
