My First teardrop "The Shiny Lima"

Postby Sputterputz » Tue Aug 20, 2013 4:16 pm

Well about 6 months ago I bought a set of plans from grant whipp. The lilbear 10rf was my choice.

Yesterday after finding out our local hardwood supplier forgot how to measure their stock materials. I had to spline my side walls so I lost a day there.

I do not enjoy the wood finishing portions of any of my projects so I took the opportunity to use up alittle bit of engineered plywood flooring to finish my interior sidewalls.

Tomorrow I cut out the doors and spines for the roof and hatch. Glue my floor together and then set walls on it.

Got my walls up, ribs on, headliner panel (still have to cover it with fabric) headboard, and some cabinetry framed up..

Spent waaay to much money on metal today.. 2 weeks till delivery.. my epoxy showed up for sealing the plywood. My fan is here, ac unit is ordered, axle needs to be ordered, but I have a local dexter supplier that can hopefully help me out.. I will build my frame this weekend coming up (a week out)

Devil is always in the details. Tonight I got all my door stock sized for the cabinets. Tomorrow ill run then across the router table

Trim from grant is ordered. Still have to find some interior lights I don't hate.

Looking for a solution to my tongue box mounted AC/heat unit and controlling it without going to the box every time.

Thanks guys!!

Found a solution for my AC. Started on my hatch but was interrupted by a service call. Maybe I will get it done tomorrow. All my doors are made sanded and filled. Made my drawers for the interior. Still need to route and size my drawer faces. Still trying to decide how to utilize my galley cabinet space the best.

I've been a backpacker and generally only take what I can't live without. So trying to think of things to fill this enormous thing up is a job in itself. Some of it I am going to just take a note pad with me and make changes later.

Thats a good idea. Better than trying to weed things out later.

Welp my hatch is framed and has ply on the inside so I can now say I have all of my trailer to the same position.

Monday is a holiday and I am going to spend it in my shop w some stain and a rag trying to get all of my raw interior stained. Once that is done if the humidity will behave I will shoot lacquer over it and do a final assembly. Friday my metal is due. A week Monday till my axle shows. Need to start on the tongue boxi guess

I am already trying to export as much as I can. Nobody wants the stuff.

Oh well. It's below 80 percent for the next couple days I will try it in the am.

Doors are not on their hinges yet. Don't mind the wonkyness

Headliner is in lighting is in. Cabinets are sprayed and ready for assembly. Still waiting on my AC face to come back from the metal shop. My metal is here. I am nervous as heck to put it on. I still have to fiberglass my corners and epoxy the wood so it won't be this weekend.
